Stinky the Garbage Truck | The go-to toy of the year
Word on the mom-blog street is that Stinky The Garbage Truck will be this year’s go-to holiday toy. Stinky is part of Mattel’s “Big Rig Buddies” line of electronic toys. Wal-Mart and Target are counting on it and have started a war over pricing Stinky the Garbage Truck.
Who or what is Stinky the Garbage Truck?
Stinky the Garbage truck is a battery-operated garbage truck that talks, dances and interacts. Stinky eats just about anything you put into his mouth (and will dump it onto the floor later.) There are about 100 phrases pre-programmed into Stinky the Garbage Truck, and he will repeat them with flashing lights and music. The toy is also marketed as having “an attitude all his own” that at least includes excusing himself for “being stinky.” The toy uses several “C” batteries and can be shut off with a switch in the back.
The price war over Stinky the Garbage Truck
There are many industry watchers who say that the normally recession-proof toy industry may face tough times this holiday season. Wal-Mart and Target have started a price war over Stinky the Garbage Truck. As of mid-November, Wal-Mart has Stinky priced at $55.99, while Target has Stinky the Garbage truck for $49.99 with a coupon. Amazon.com, is currently leading the pack with Stinky the Garbage Truck for anywhere from $44.99 to $47.35. Either way, this one toy will cost you more than a payday loan no faxing.
The decision making of toy choices
For many parents, getting the latest and greatest toy for their kids is simply no question. With toys like Stinky the Garbage Truck becoming even more popular, it may be worth taking a few moments to sit back and think about the investment in toys. For around $50, Stinky the Garbage Truck will likely last a year, or two if you are very lucky. For that same price, a few very good wooden toys could be purchased that would encourage imagination, rather than button-mashing. Wooden toys are also much less likely to be recalled for dangerous plastics, much more likely to last decades.
