Cheap O Air: A New Choice for Buying Plane Tickets

There are plenty of sites out there that will find the best deals on plane tickets for you. Airfare Watchdog, Cheap Tickets, Orbitz and Expedia are just a few of these services, and we can add Cheap O Air to that list.

Cheap O Air works the same way these other travel sites work. If you punch in your travel plans, it pulls up a list of prices for tickets starting with the least expensive. However, in some cases you could end up saving money if you buy a ticket that’s only on sale for a short time or is a really phenomenal price. Airlines’ prices usually go up a little bit every day for specific tickets, and sometimes they can jump considerably two to three weeks before the flight.

Did you know not all airlines are listed?

I have noticed that web sites such as Cheap Tickets, Cheap O Air and Expedia don’t include ticket prices for all of the flights available. I looked for the same flight on these three sites and got results for flights operated by Delta Airlines, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines and United Airlines.

However, Southwest Airlines also serves the airport I live near, and if you want to know the prices for Southwest Airlines you must go directly to the Southwest Airlines site. Cheap O Air and other ticket-pricing sites don’t post Southwest Airlines flights, and I’d imagine the same applies to other regional airlines.

Factor in extra fees

When I compared the flight prices I found on Cheap O Air to Southwest Airlines prices, it turned out Southwest didn’t have less expensive tickets anyway. Southwest has been known to run some crazy promotions for tickets as low as $25. Passengers can also save money because Southwest doesn’t charge passengers for checking bags.

You must factor in the cost of checking luggage if you have more stuff than you can carry on the plane. Find out how much an airline charges for checking bags and make sure you include that in the cost when deciding which plane ticket to buy. For example, a round-trip ticket for a flight I looked up on Southwest cost $33 more than a Delta flight, but Delta charges for checking bags. So if I needed to check luggage the cheaper flight could end up being more expensive.

Do your homework

The internet has made it fast and easy for people to find pretty much anything they need in just seconds. I definitely think that if you live near an airport that operates a regional airline and those prices don’t show up on Cheap O Air or other sites like it, it is worth the couple of extra minutes it takes to check and compare prices.

After all, maybe you’ll get lucky and the airline not listed on Cheap O Air will be having a sale or offering some type of extras or promotions that will save you money. Web sites like Cheap O Air can save you time, but make sure you’re not missing out on all of your options.
