By the way, I know I haven’t posted in a while, so here goes. This week I got to take my kids school shopping for middle school, which was exciting. It’s so hard to let go of your children. My twins, Tayla and Maddie, are growing up so fast. Every time I see them, I see two two-year olds, and then I blinked, and they’re 13. I can’t believe they’re teens already. We were shopping, and the girls were showing me clothes that showed off more than I was comfortable with. Deep v-necks, short skirts, and little things they called underwear that were too skimpy to even use as shoestrings and that cost more than normal underwear. I let them get some of the stuff they wanted that wasn’t too revealing, but only a few. They complained of course, but I wasn’t going to let my kids go out like the king wearing invisible robes in public. I know that when they get older they’ll push harder to wear less, and then comes makeup, and then who knows what.

In spite of their clothing choices, they do make me very proud. In fact, last Monday they showed up with papers to sign to play girls basketball. I played basketball when I was their age and absolutely loved it. The team, the friends, they may even be able to keep it up in high school and get scholarships.
