Skeletons Out of the Closet

When the legislation approving same sex marriages was signed in Maryland and Virginia, businesses of the region hoped to gain some of the money by couples looking to tie the knot, who are expected to come from other states where these marriages are considered illegal. Doing this will present an enormous cost, which may cause them to take out a personal loan. But by doing this, they will achieve the one important but neglected part of their lives: recognition of being humans with the courage to be authentically true to themselves and others.

Stereotypes About Same Sex “Affairs”

It is not a secret that same sex relationships are here to stay. Looking around, we see a many people who are finally seeing the light about themselves and living authentically, in spite of the many stereotypes and opinions about this. While some states have legalized such relationships, others have abhorred them. These have existed for many ages, ever since humans first started forming relationships. But because of the many religions banning such relationships, they were pushed into the closet. Many people in this world take it upon themselves to detest such relationships and make no bones about making their feelings known. It has to be understood that these people cannot be forced to remain in the closet forever, because they will force themselves out, perhaps at the cost of a rebellion, such as what happened at Stonewall during the Stonewall Riots of 1969.

Economic Benefits of Legislation

Now that the legislation for same sex marriages has been signed, businesses in the region are looking to reap the economic benefits from couples coming from places like Washington and other places to take advantage of the situation. Personal loans will only assist them in getting what they need to be human. The only hitch to this is a 30 day review period by the congress, but the process is currently being contested.

Huge Money for the Recession

In an economy that has already been hit hard by the recession, businesses in the region are hoping that this legislation will bring in the financial benefits that they wanted. District officials estimate that businesses could reap around $22 million over the next three years as couples from different states look to take advantage of the laws. Another estimate issued by the University of California places this figure at around $52 million.

Future is Looking Up

While businesses will be looking to provide all the services that are required for a ceremony, same sex couples will also be making plans for a decent future. They may do so at the cost of their own savings or a personal loan. Given the fact that every couple has the right to consider the sacred institution of marriage, these people should also be given their due. This will be a fact that many people will dislike, however they will have to digest reality and accept the economic benefits that are headed their way.

Whatever your opinions are of what Beaver Phillips espouses, one thing that can’t be denied: he has the confidence necessary in any good salesman. That doesn’t necessarily mean that what he’s selling is snake oil, however. While I have not read the book, what I’ve been able to ascertain so far is that he suggests some tried and true communication methods – and as I’ve said, he’s also not deceptive. He steers relationship-starter conversation toward what he’s looking for. I’m reminded of Bill Clinton. I believe he once told an interviewer that the secret to getting to know and develop relationships with women is listening. Anyone will respond if the other person takes a genuine interest in them. Listening (as opposed to guiding or suggesting ways to fix things) is at the heart of this. A man who cares enough about the woman he’s with to listen well will inevitably make a good impression. If the woman is looking for the same thing and both parties cut out the pretenses, the odds are good that that will be the result.

Almost makes it sound easy

But it isn’t. It takes time and dedication. Phillips puts it this way:

Guys, picking up a woman that you know nothing about is hard. Rejection is inevitable and that gets really old really fast. Enter a club or bar and chances are there will be women in there. No matter how good you might become at “picking up chicks” in bars ultimately what do you know about who you are picking up? Nothing! Going out to bars should be reserved for hanging out with friends, grabbing some drinks, and watching the game. Forget about subjecting yourself to rejection from average chicks and bar flies. Life is too short and can be a lot more fun!

Fear of rejection kills opportunity

That is what holds most people back in life. Beaver Phillips knows this, too, which is why he suggests certain communication tools to streamline the process. It won’t work with all women, that’s for sure. But it is focused and targeted, while also being honest. Honing the approach, using humor and recognizing the signs that it’s time to move on are his stock in trade.

The book retails for $30. That’s more expensive than this kind of information should be, I believe. Common sense and being a good listener go a long way. There are no payday loans or cash advance for that kind of thing. Be confident in who you are without being conceited, work to be well-rounded, add dashes of humor to your conversation style and don’t be afraid. That’s a tall order for some, but it’s worth the work. Beaver Phillips would tell you the same, but he’d charge you $30 first.

Everyone wants to meet that special someone. Sometimes, that someone is Mr. Right. Other times, that someone is Mr. Right Now. Substitute Ms. depending as suits your proclivities. Balancing your needs, desires and goals is the only true way for you to find out exactly what kind of a relationship is best for you. It is billed as a “no fluff” guide to helping men achieve exactly what the title describes. Ignore the societal stigma for a moment and look at things from the perspective of having the greatest amount of safe, healthy fun in the shortest amount of time (the days we have to live). Then you’ll understand where Beaver Phillips is coming from, at least.

What kind of man does this? He has to be an alpha male, right? Not at all. Beaver Phillips describes himself as an “average guy” with “average looks, income and intelligence.” A guy who hangs with his buddies and appreciates everyday manly things, so to speak. A guy who knows how to find women and have sex with them.

He’s done the bar scene

Phillips knows what he wants and he isn’t deceptive about it. In the disclaimer to his book, he tells readers looking for advice on how to build a long-term relationship that this isn’t the place to find it. There are certain principles that will work in that arena, but his purpose is to guide readers toward quick results. His opinion is that online dating sites are the way to go, over the traditional bar scene. That’s too expensive and the chance for rejection is much higher. Phillips feels that online dating is more focused and the pool of potential matches is much larger. Reading profiles, exchanging a few important E-mails, making telephone contact then arranging to meet is a path that’s easier to navigate – and once you get the hang of it, you learn not how to manipulate the opposite sex, but how to be honest with yourself, let loose and have fun. Phillips’ intent is to help you find like-minded individuals.
