Though federal prosecutors have until Tuesday to produce an indictment regarding a “significant criminal matter,” they say it will be done today.

Though U.S. Attorney Patrick J. Fitzgerald has not flatly said that the high-profile indictment to be filed today is Blagojevich’s, Chicagoans have widely accepted confirmation from other sources.

Blago’s whereabouts

As federal attorneys plan to file the indictment against the former governor, Blagojevich possibly was riding Space Mountain or eating a $10 hot dog. Blagojevich reportedly is at Disney World now with his family. With all of the fines that he will undoubtedly have to pay, I hope he funded his trip with payday loans.

The pending charges

Blagojevich officially is being charged with political corruption. Prosecutors say that he tried to sell or trade the Illinois Senate seat left vacant when Barack Obama won the presidency.

“An affidavit accompanying the complaint accuses Blagojevich of trying to squeeze companies for campaign money and pressure the Chicago Tribune to fire editorial writers calling for his impeachment.” – From the Associated Press.

Unemployed

Blagojevich has already been impeached from office, and his post has been taken over by Pat Quinn. Blagojevich was impeached Jan. 9 and convicted Jan. 29 by the Senate. He already has had one lawyer quit on him.

Interestingly enough, the man who held the Illinois governor office just before Blagojevich, George Ryan, was convicted of racketeering as he left office and is still in prison.

“I didn’t do it”

You might want to make room on your bookshelf for Blago's next masterpiece.

Blagojevich, from day one, has insisted he is innocent of any wrongdoing. In fact, after his Senate conviction in January he went on a talk-show tour of sorts to proclaim his innocence. He appeared on “The Today Show,” “Good Morning America” and “The View.”

The Huffington Post reports that Blagojevich is now writing a book.

Rod Blagojevich Arrested

Has Rod Blagojevich seen his last paycheck in office? That’s the question being asked after Rod Blagojevich, the governor of Illinois was found facing criminal charges today for allegedly trying to sell the US Senate position that will be vacated by Barack Obama, the new Democratic President elect. He as well as his chief of staff, John Harris were arrested and taken into custody at their residence in. He may not be able to get payday loans before long.

For the great city of Chicago Illinois, home to many prominent celebrities such as John Malkovich, Daryl Hannah, John Cusack, and Patricia Arquette, it has also become known for its political corruption.

Blogojevich Indictment

Might be out of a job

The 51 year old Gov. Blagojevich was also accused of blocking assistance from the state to the struggling Tribune Company for purposes of getting those who were most critical of him fired. The federal Blogojevich indictment against the two, is 76 pages in total, and apart from the above charges it also includes conspiracy to commit other crimes such as mail fraud and bribery.

Gov. Blagojevich Asked For T0o Much This Time

Because Obama resigned from his seat after the Nov 4 election, Gov. Blagojevich had the duty according to Illinois state law to assign someone to the vacated seat. His choice to use this as a point of leverage for political favor and power is what may bring him down.

Apparently Blogojevich was seeking a much larger salary for himself, as well as a spot for his wife on the corporate board, campaign cash and a cabinet post. All this and perhaps more that is unknown at this time was being asked by Gov. Blagojevich in exchange for his choice of senate. He may not be able to get payday loans for his choice of lawyers.

Blagojevich Arrested After Being Caught On Tape

Blagojevich was Arrested by the FBI, after building the case against him from court authorized wiretaps that were performed last month. This comes as shocking news to the people of Illinois as there last governor George Ryan was also indicted on federal conviction charges. Special Agent-in-Charge, Robert D. Grant of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Chicago, said in a statement.

“”Many, including myself, thought that the recent conviction of a former governor would usher in a new era of honesty and reform in Illinois politics, clearly, the charges announced today reveal that the office of the Governor has become nothing more than a vehicle for self-enrichment, unrestricted by party affiliation and taking Illinois politics to a new low.”

Rod Blagojevich’s Echoes Nixon and Watergate Amidst His Situation

Blagojevich seemed a little more optimistic with the charges as he was reported to have said the following,

“It kind of smells like Nixon and Watergate,” the governor told reporters. “But I don’t care whether you tape me privately or publicly, I can tell you that whatever I say is always lawful.”

What are Illinois Feelings of Governor Rod Blagojevich plight?

Some are elated and others who are fond of the governor are saddened. Mayor Scott McCoy of Pontiac said it felt like Christmas came early after hearing the news of Blagojevich. The mayor has been fighting the governor over his plans to close down a local prison.

Illinois and all of America will just have to watch and see how things play out for the governor and the state of Illinois. Maybe Blagojevich will still be able to get payday loans after all!
