Cold Stone Creamery is offering mom a free “Love It” size signature ice cream creation. Bring mom in on Sunday May 9 during business hours. Check with your local Cold Stone Creamery for participation details.

Some IKEA stores are offering free breakfast for Mom and a few are offering free massages on Sunday, May 9, 2010 between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. including scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes and a cup of coffee. What a fun way to spend the morning. Not only breakfast but then window shop and dream with your mom about the furniture she would love to get. Some stores are requiring a family photo to participate. Be sure to check with your local IKEA store for participation details and especially to see if your local IKEA is participating.

Pat & Oscar’s is offering every child a free kids meal on Mothers Day with every adult meal purchase. Check with your local Pat & Oscar’s for participation details.

Daddy Cakes is offering all moms in Orange County a free breakfast of pancakes, sausage and eggs with the purchase of one $5 breakfast on Saturday, the day before Mothers Day from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at The Tustin District shopping center in the courtyard in front of the AMC movie theater. Philly’s Best in Santa Ana is offering moms one meal free on Mothers Day with the purchase of another meal. Check with Philly’s Best for participation details.

Panera Bread restaurants are offering a mini strawberries and cream scone to the first 100 customers who whisper “mom” before 2 p.m. on Mothers Day. Check with your local Panera Bread for participation details.

The Affordable Art Fair in Manhattan is offering free admission on Mothers Day only to children 12 and younger and their moms from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. If you don’t live in Manhattan, look around and see if there is an art fair or museum that will be free on Sunday near you. Moms love art. Check with The Affordable Art Fair for participation details.

Ripley’s Believe It or Not is offering free admission to moms who bring their children on Mothers Day only. Check with your local Ripley’s for participation details.

Golf Club at Chelsea Piers is offering moms a free $25 golf card when a son, daughter or partner purchases any ball card (minimum $25) on Mothers Day, Sunday, May 9, 2010. Check with Chelsea Piers for participation details. If you don’t live close to Chelsea Piers, check with your local Golf Club and see if it has a Mothers Day offer.

Look locally and see if there are other free offers in your neighborhood and enjoy Mothers Day with your mom!

You can make her a card, give her a coupon for a backrub or a coupon for doing the dishes. You can pick flowers for her. You can bake her a cake or make her dinner. T.G.I. Fridays is offering free dessert for mom with the purchase of an entree at more than 600 participating T.G.I. Fridays on Mothers Day. Additionally, members of Friday’s guest recognition program, Give Me More Stripes, who eat at Friday’s on Mothers Day and bring in the coupon that was e-mailed to them will receive a one-time-use Buy One Entree, Get One Free coupon that expires May 31. TCBY is offering one free cup or cone for mom at participating TCBY locations on Mother’s Day. Check with your local TCBY for participation details.

Champps Restaurants is offering Moms Eat Free for a Year Mothers Day Promotion. Mothers who eat at any participating Champps restaurant during Mothers Day weekend will receive a reloadable card good for a $15 off food purchases every single month through April 2011. If you aren’t already chock full of Mothers Day gift ideas, you can always buy flowers for Mothers Day. You know Mom would always appreciate it, and you know you should call more often. (Admit it!) There are plenty of specials and coupons all over the internet, which will make it pretty easy to get a decent arrangement for cheap, without even needing to think about a cash loan to get Mom something special.  She gave birth to you and you won’t even get her flowers?

Where to go for flowers for Mother’s Day?

There are plenty of florist shops around that likely have specials on flowers for Mothers Day.  That said, there are some online deals you can find as well.  For instance, Proflowers.com has been running fairly regular TV spots, and you can get a bouquet delivered for $19.99 (plus tax, of course). It’s the Grower’s Choice, and it includes a vase, though not the high end one.  You can add whatever you like, better vases or arrangements and so forth, if you so choose. Proflowers also has a special on one dozen assorted roses (no vase, though) for $24.99.  There are also some good deals through 1-800-flowers as well.

Ah – but what about an edible arrangement?

Indeed you can send an edible arrangement. In fact, you can do it online through EdibleArrangements.com.  The site offers plenty of gift baskets full of goodies, including chocolate dipped strawberries, fruit arrangements, etc.  Everything is arranged in such a way that it looks like flowers (sort of).

Other avenues

Mothers Day is always a popular day to buy flowers.  It would be prudent to check with florist shops in your local area to see if they have any specials currently running, if flowers for Mothers Day is what you have in mind.

May 9 will be Mother’s Day 2010, the day appointed to celebrate the women that gave birth to us and to our children.  The day is right around the corner, so you better start getting some Mother’s Day gift ideas together.

Mother’s Day 2010, as always, right before summer

Mother’s Day 2010 falls just before the summer months, so that’s something you can bear in mind.  For instance, you could get her sandals or get around to fixing her sprinklers so her lawn doesn’t die. There are some great Mother’s Day gift ideas on Gifts.com to get you started, like a wine-of-the-month club, personalized M&Ms and so forth.  Here are a few ideas that probably won’t make you look for a money lender to come up with a great Mother’s Day 2010 gift:

• Show up at her house and do lots of yard/handy work and let her relax.
• Ger her a gift certificate to a spa or for a massage.  She works hard, darn it, and she could use a break. You can even find coupons and get a good deal; try Retailmenot.com or Couponcabin.com
• Jewelry is always nice, and there are some upcoming sales – for instance, the Ben Bridge Mother and Child collection, if you got the bucks.

You could also try making jewelry, for the handmade touch.  In fact, if you want to get the kids in on making jewelry, that would probably go a long way.

• Cooking – try making either mom or your partner something special, or treat her to dinner out.  Plenty of restaurants are going to run specials, and you may be able to get a nice discount.
• Gift baskets – there will be gift baskets galore all over the place.
• Crafts – scrapbooks, photo albums, are always a great gift to give someone.

Now get on it!

It’s the day set aside to celebrate the woman that gave birth to you and/or the woman who gave birth to your children.  They deserve a day, at least, so you better start shopping.
