Why is Dunkin Donuts Free Iced Coffee Day 2010 so limited?

In the past, Dunkin Donuts Free Iced Coffee Day 2010 would have been a national event. When asked for comment, a spokesperson said that “As part of our 60th birthday celebration, Dunkin’ Donuts is offering a variety of regional promotions throughout the year rather than a national Free Iced Coffee Day.”

The real story is more nuanced. The stock of Dunkin Donuts’ parent company has dropped from over $20 per share to under $15 in the past year, and is now trading at about $18. With less money coming in and stronger competition, Dunkin Donuts is scrambling  for its position in the market.
