Christmas is here, and whether you’re basking in the warm, fuzzy feelings of friends, family and spiked egg nog or spending it alone in the dark because Santa stole your girl and you’re waiting for the round mound to slip down the chimney and come within range of your electric cattle prod, it’s time for reflection. Here are some Christmas quotes to warm your heart or give you reason to go back to the drawing board on your five-year plan.

Christmas quotes for the rest of us

“A merry Christmas to everybody! A happy New Year to all the world” — Charles Dickens. Dickens loved to tell stories, and his experiences as a young boy taught him to appreciate moments of joy, no matter how fleeting they are. Sure, his entire family lived in debtors’ prison, and young Charles spent his boyhood working as a bootblack, but that doesn’t mean you should give up hope, does it?

Try a little naughtiness

“Let’s be naughty and save Santa the trip” — Gary Allan. This is for those who don’t believe in New Year’s resolutions. You know that if something is worth doing in the first place, you should do it today, rather than waiting. As far as Santa and Christmas, many of the people with the money in this world have done some of the meanest things imaginable en route to obtaining that money. Don’t be mean. But if you’re a consenting adult, being “naughty” can have very entertaining connotations. Keep it legal, keep it private. Be naughty today, because you can’t take it with you. Santa would approve. Remember, he’s a jolly old elf.

Be plenteous

“Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas” — Calvin Coolidge. What do you know, a former U.S. president who didn’t cave to special interest groups – at least not when it came to Dec. 25. Making people happy through simple gestures can feel good. Embrace family, friends and be loving. That’s something even “Silent Cal” couldn’t keep quiet.

Whether you’re merry, naughty or simply a lover of peace, here’s hoping you can enjoy the sentiment behind a very simple phrase: Merry Christmas!

Believe it or not, St. Nicholas Day is not actually on Christmas. St. Nicholas Day is celebrated on Dec. 6, a full three weeks before. How the historical St. Nicholas became Santa Claus is a bit of a mystery.

St. Nicholas of Myra

St. Nicholas, also Nicholas or Nikolaos of Myra, lived from 270 AD to 346 AD and was the Bishop of Myra, in modern day Turkey. Nicholas was known for being incredibly kind and also generous, especially when it came to gift giving. According to legend, he would often secretly leave gifts, often in the form of coins left in people’s shoes. There are also various stories about St. Nicholas providing dowries to families too poor to provide one. He is the patron saint of sailors, merchants, fishermen, archers, thieves, pawnbrokers and children. The Eastern Orthodox church holds him in very high esteem, and he is listed as the patron saints of numerous countries. During The Crusades, his remains were taken to Italy to prevent them from falling into the hands of the Seljuk Turks, and his tomb has resided in Bari ever since.

From Saint to Santa

How Saint Nicholas was made into the modern Santa Claus likely is due to the fact that he was known for leaving presents anonymously, like coins or sweets, in people’s shoes and especially those of children. The tradition became for people to give gifts on St. Nicholas Day, with the emphasis being on gifts for kids. Somewhere along the line he was absorbed into the mythical figure of Sinterklaas (likely due to the association with leaving gifts for children) and other cultural equivalents, thus becoming Santa Claus.

Celebration varies

Like any saint’s day, celebration and observances vary. Some countries place high importance on observing St. Nicholas, and others don’t. Areas with historically large communities of European expatriates, especially from Germany, Belgium, Holland and Eastern Europe, will have a St. Nicholas Day observance of some sort, like leaving their shoes out in their homes tonight and finding them filled with sweets in the morning.

Christmas 2010 is just around the corner, and if you’re like most people struggling to make ends meet these days, you need to find creative ways to fund your Christmas gift ideas on a budget. With these easy tips, you can still get the most out of the holidays, without spending ridiculous amounts of money this season.

Budgeting Christmas gift ideas 2010

Planning your Christmas gift ideas on a budget is easy. But first things first, you need to know how much holiday money you can afford this year. Taking note of your recurring monthly expenses – such as rent, car payments, food, utilities, etc – will help you come up with a precise, reasonable dollar amount to spend on gifts.

Tip: Budget in at least $50 for unexpected expenses.

Christmas gifts on a budget

The are many fun, inexpensive Christmas gift ideas to consider. But before you go digging for any more ideas, do what Santa does and pull out a pen and paper and begin jotting down the names of everyone you plan on buying a gift for. Then, next to each name, write down the items you plan on getting for each person on that list. Remember, you don’t have to buy individual gifts for everyone; you can purchase one gift for an entire family or group. Once you are done with your list, it’s time to go hunting for holiday savings deals. The key is to plan ahead of time and stick as close to your list as possible.

Holiday hunting

So now that you have your list readily available at hand, it’s time to go hunting for the hottest holiday deals this season. One of the most convenient ways of doing this is to go window-shopping online. Using your list, query and search for each item you plan on buying. If you find a good deal, make note of it and dig deeper. You know never how much more money you can save by simply taking your time to shop.

‘Tis the season to be thankful

Planning Christmas gift ideas on a budget is fun and easy to do; all you really need is to be creative. However, Christmastime is a lot more than just gifts, cookies and mistletoes. Christmas just wouldn’t be Christmas without loving friends and family there with you. Remember, you don’t have to spend a lot of money to share fun, quality time with the ones you love most.

The Christmas 2010 season

Though it may seem early to start thinking about saving quick cash for Christmas 2010, many people are already considering the cost. The recession of 2009 made people think twice about their finances. Credit card lenders proved to be unreliable throughout the economic downturn and people had to rely on their cash reserves to make their monthly expenses. Christmas 2009, overall, was a bleak one with many consumers having to cut back drastically on their spending. To avoid the crunch, many consumers are looking for saving options and starting their plans now.

Budgeting in advance

According to Alison Southwick, BBB spokesperson, “Budgeting wisely can greatly reduce the holiday hangover that many overextended families’ experience. A Christmas Club account is a great tool for gradually socking away money throughout the year to spread the financial burden of holiday spending.” The Christmas Club account is the latest tool consumers are turning to as they try to ease the pain of holiday spending.

In the past the Christmas Club account was offered at credit unions or community banks. It’s a savings account that allows holders to deposit small amounts over the year and then withdraw the funds in the fall. There are 78% of credit unions in the US that offer the accounts, according to the Credit Union National Association.

Retailers are joining in the savings plan

Retailers are now realizing that they need to keep up with the financial strain of their customers and changing their own products. Some retailers are offering their own form of the Christmas Club account. The good thing about these accounts is that they offer a place to not only place money, but they also earn interest as well. Of course the stipulation is that the money has to be spent at the retailer holding the account, but it’s proving to be a convenient way to save for the holidays.

The terms for Christmas Club accounts vary widely among retailers. Some allow withdrawals in early fall, while others require the money to be left alone until December. Some also offer higher interest rates than others, so it’s wise to do some searching. For consumers who are worried about having enough quick cash when the holidays come near, these accounts are very helpful.

Understand the fine print

It’s crucial that applicants understand the terms of an agreement when it comes to Christmas Club accounts. Some require a minimum deposit to open the accounts and require a consistent monthly deposit. This can be a good tool for those who are particularly disciplined when it comes to savings. They can treat the deposit like another expense and keep up with payments. The accounts are a lot like Certificates of Deposit that banks offer. They have an interest rate, varying deposit requirements and there is a penalty for withdrawing the money prior to the end date of the contract.

The cautions of Christmas Club accounts

The terms are the most important thing for consumers to watch when it comes to Christmas Club accounts. Also, consumers should make sure that the retailer they choose is a good fit for most of their holiday shopping. Overall, the accounts are great tools to have quick cash for spending and with a little research they can help any family make it through the expense.

Retailers post-recession

Things are looking good for retailers. With the Christmas season just ending, many retailers were worried that they would have much more depressed sales numbers than ever. The recession was weighing heavily on everyone’s mind and stores were bracing for a lagging season. A Christmas miracle happened for them though – shoppers appear to have used last-minute shopping techniques. These last-minute sales caused retailers’ numbers to reach higher than predicted.

Namely there were two things that caused the last minute rush: 1) Shoppers procrastinating and waiting for last-minute super-specials; 2) the East Coast’s snowstorm that hampered some shoppers plans forcing them to shop in a hurry. Although things are looking up, true numbers won’t be available until the week after Christmas. That’s when experts officially close the books on the holiday season and assess performance.

The procrastinators weigh in

David Bassuk, managing director of AlixPartners, said, “The procrastinators were really out in force. But I think retailers needed to be more aggressive to fight for those sales. A lot of people are still willing to hold out until after Christmas because the deals weren’t as good.” For example, Joe Roberts of Madison, Wisconsin, purchased a PlayStation 3 for his son. He waited to shell out the $300 cost due to the recession. Roberts is self-employed as a designer of manufacturing equipment whose wife most likely will lose her job soon. He said, “I don’t feel good about our outlook.” There were millions of procrastinators shopping this season and they brought the last minute surge retailers were looking for.

The weather can contribute

The weather definitely can contribute to sales. When consumers don’t feel safe driving, or can’t drive due to weather, they put off shopping altogether. The East Coast’s snowstorm just prior to Christmas made retailers worried. Wally Brewster, spokesman for General Growth Properties, said that merchants had to make up for lost sales after the roads were cleared. The peak in customers was a welcomed surprise, but most likely numbers will still be about the same as they were last year for the retail mall.

A full assessment

It won’t be until January 7th that retailers release their official numbers for the 2009 season. It will be interesting to see how well they really did post-recession. Most analysts expect that retailers’ fourth-quarter profits should be healthy due to them not having to slash prices more than anticipated. Plus, their numbers were also cushioned by lean inventories so there was not a lot of unsold merchandise left to eat up profits. Once the economy does weigh in on the numbers, analysts are expected to release their official assessment for the2009 year of shopping.

Change is about to come

Most experts believe that the recession is officially over and now it will take time for things to stabilize. One of the biggest contributors to retailer’s lagging sales is the unemployment rate. With many companies set to begin hiring full-time employees at the beginning of 2010, analysts are encouraged. They believe that the economy will start turning around as soon as jobs are again available to consumers.

If this was what the Democrats intended to say, they have managed to come close by clinching a deal on healthcare reform. If the news is true, it will be a relief to a number of Americans struggling to meet the basic costs of healthcare. Some people must even take out personal loans to pay for their medical expenses, and it is still not clear whether this deal will reduce the costs of healthcare in any way. That the politicians have even agreed to come close to a deal is in itself a major accomplishment.

High Healthcare Costs

Current figures published in the New York Times (12/19/2009) state that there are 30 million Americans who hold no insurance of any kind. Other reports state that one in three adult Americans or a third of all adults are victims of hypertension, which can lead to heart related ailments. With the costs of healthcare showing no signs of coming down, many people are left with no other options but to use up their savings or look for personal loans. Many consider themselves lucky if they can find monetary assistance from these loans to meet the problems they are facing, but others are not so lucky. One group of patients with renal failures in California required dialysis, but had to forego treatment as the hospital pleaded its inability to treat the patients. To make matters worse, these people found no relief from the legal system as well. It was apparently their fault for being illegal citizens of the country.

Will This Bill Pass?

Perhaps not. The Democrats have declared their acceptance of the bill in spite of facing stiff resistance from the Republicans. The bill looks like it will gain some ground based on the theory that Democrats and Republicans hold an equal number of representatives that approve and oppose the bill. As things stand, however, it looks as though a stalemate may occur. Soothing words have come from President Obama who has declared this moment as a major step forward for the American people. The best part of this deal is that it looks to offer healthcare benefits to the 30 million Americans that are not insured.

Should We Be Happy?

Looking at the reports that are slowly emerging, it certainly looks like there is a reason to be happy. Millions of Americans who had to borrow money from personal loans to meet the many costs of healthcare will now look for some kind of relief in the future. This cannot be said to be true for other people who are living in the country without proper authentication. Others will face better times ahead once the bill has been passed. People looking to buy insurance will now have access to facilities even for pre-existing illnesses, while insurers will have to follow the guidelines set by the government about premiums that they can charge for the older generation. Some people will feel that enough has not been done and will be dependent on loans to take them through difficult times. At least a start has been made that will reduce overall costs and provide relief to a large number of people.

Christmas is a time of joy, when we get to see loved ones we haven’t seen for a while. Christmas in many families is filled with history and tradition. Christmas has a lot of pros, but it also has more than a few cons.

One of the biggest problems with Christmas is waste. Once you add up the wrapping paper, boxes, toy packaging and full-sized trees, you’re looking at some significant landfill contributions. But fear not, there are ways to have a traditional Christmas and still respect our planet.

Oh, Christmas Tree

For a reasons I don’t understand, a lot of people are dead set against getting a fake Christmas tree. While this is the most environmentally responsible method, some people simply can’t be swayed, even though it saves money, like getting the best personal loan rates, and it saves waste.

There are ways to keep your real tree from ending up in a landfill. Many people have big bonfires with their Christmas trees or burn them in their fireplaces at home. Try to figure out a way to get your tree to people who can use it to help heat their homes or use the materials to create something else. For instance, you might be able to get your tree to a plant that could use it to make …

Wrapping paper

Many people aren’t sure whether wrapping paper is recyclable, but guess what! It most certainly is. A lot of cities with pick-up programs accept wrapping paper in the recycling bins. The same thing goes for cardboard boxes.

A lot of toy packaging can’t be recycled, but much of it can. It may seem like a huge hassle, but look around at all the houses around you. Now think of what it would look like if you all piled up the waste that resulted from your Christmas presents. Do the right thing and make sure you recycle everything possible so that there will be many joyous Christmases on this Earth to come.

Everyone loves Free Shipping Day 2009

Image from Flickr

Customers and businesses both win on Free Shipping Day 2009, which is today. This day was designated because it’s the last day most retailers can guarantee the package will arrive by Christmas Day.

On Free Shipping Day 2009, more retailers are participating than ever before, but it’s a fairly new tradition. Three years ago when Free Shipping Day started, only a few stores participated. However, the tradition has grown enormously, and on Free Shipping Day 2009, a total of 737 retailers are participating. Even if you don’t celebrate Christmas, but you’re planning a big purchase that normally would cost a lot to ship, it might be worth it to get a cash until payday loan so you can take advantage of free shipping.

A word from our sponsors

While the customers who get presents sent to them for free might think they’re the ones winning big on Free Shipping Day, the event helps businesses by giving their sales a boost. This is especially beneficial to small businesses. According to the Christian Science Monitor:

“This is something for small businesses,” says Luke Knowles of FreeShipping.org, the group organizing Free Shipping Day. “In the current state of the economy, a lot of companies could use a day like this that might equal three or four days of sales throughout the rest of the year.”

A lot of big retailers are participating in Free Shipping Day 2009, though, including Amazon, Nike, Adidas, Levi’s, Chico’s, Apple and GNC.

Free Shipping Day 2009 and the economy

Though Free Shipping Day was started before the recession, in this economic climate retailers are especially glad for this day.

“It saves quite a bit of money,” says Megan Cassity of Hickory Farms, a medium-sized food and gift-basket retailer. “And in this economy everybody is looking to save every little bit that they can.”

Take advantage of Free Shipping Day 2009 to save money and help out struggling retailers. But hurry, you’ve got to do it today!

Recession causes holiday stress

<img title="No Cash Now? Give Great Holiday Gifts on a Tight Budget" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3585/3777790535_aa63d2ed22.jpg" alt="Making your own liquer is easy, and it makes great holiday gifts.
This is the time of year for giving, but with the current economy you may be short on cash now. Exchanging gifts can be a fun and exciting part of the holiday season, but can also be a source of stress and worry. There is the hassle of figuring out what to buy, coupled with the anxiety over cost.

Particularly during these tough financial times, stretching the budget to buy presents can be a challenge. Fortunately, with a little creativity and exploration, the undertaking can be a lot more enjoyable and pocket friendly.

Get some Inspiration

For those having trouble with finding the right gift, there are a few places to turn. Whether you are intending to shop in stores or online, a great place to get ideas is on gift sites. Two helpful ones are gifts.com and findgift.com. These sites offer gift suggestions based on information you provide about the recipient.

On gifts.com you can take a quiz that narrows possible gifts by gender, age and personality traits. Additionally, you can choose from pre-sorted groupings of gifts to browse through. Findgift.com offers a similar questionnaire, but also takes the occasion and person’s relationship to you into account. These sites both offer the option of purchasing the gifts through online, but they are also great sources of ideas for present shopping in general.

Now how about a Great Deal

If you already have an idea of what to buy and do not mind shopping online, eBay can be a great resource. It is free to sign up for an account and can be a great way to get an amazing deal on a hot product. Besides, you do not have to spend hours sifting through products that you do not want. EBay allows you to narrow your search by several different factors, giving you the ability to eliminate items that do not meet your specifications.

When searching for gifts, it is often a good idea to remove the used items from the search, unless you are looking for antique or vintage piece. If you are short on time, it can help to keep the search to results within your own country so that the mailing time will be shorter, and if you are extra low on cash now, sort your results from low cost to high and start looking at the top of the list.

Gifts from the Heart that Go Straight to the Thighs

Getting in touch with your crafty side can be another option for those looking to save some cash now over the holidays. Indulging in decadent sweets is a regular part of the season. Instead of baking a bunch of different kinds of cookies, why not become the ultimate resource for one kind of indulgence?

Become the definitive fudge or toffee maker. Create to-die-for truffles or caramel corn. Whatever your choice, find a fantastic recipe and concentrate on making it well. Next, package it up in bags or boxes tied with festive ribbon, and you have great gifts. The best part is that the packages need not be very big because of the richness of the treats.

Another idea is to create a signature liqueur. Recipes can be found online and are relatively easy to make. Pour your creation into bottles and add ribbons and tags and they are ready to give. On the other hand, if your recipient is artsy, but you are woefully uncreative you can check out a wide array of inspired items at a great price on Etsy.com.

Did Santa’s arrival make cash registers jingle?

The 2009 Christmas shopping season got off to a mixed start according to ShopperTrak, a Chicago-based company that tracks retail sales and retail store traffic. ShopperTrak report that early information shows less than a 1% increase in sales over last year, while store traffic was down by 2.7%. While this is much better news than last year’s almost 20% drop, it’s still not the kind of recovery anxious retailers had hoped for.

Can Cyber-Santa save Christmas?

Online sales, on the other hand, rose 19.6% for “Cyber-Monday” compared to last year, according to Coremetrics, a California-based web-sales tracking company. Holiday shoppers were spending optimistically on big-ticket items like big-screen TVs and electronics, but they were also looking for bargains on more staple items like washers, dryers, and refrigerators. Analysts consider these types of big-ticket retails sales to be encouraging signs.

Increased sales at the expense of profits

One misleading idea among many others in a shaky economic recovery is that sales necessarily equal profits. Many large retailers, such as Target.com, Amazon.com, and Walmart, have increased their discounts on hundreds of popular items. These increased discounts may have boosted recent sales compared to last year, but not necessarily profits. Obviously, each dollar given away as a discount erodes the retailer’s profit margin for that item. Retail success depends on profit margins and not simply on gross sales.

Do discounts cause consumers to delay purchases?

Another issue many retailers are grappling with is the likelihood that steadily deepening discounts actually cause consumers to delay making purchases. For shoppers, the message is that there might be a better deal tomorrow, so it may be wise to wait. After all, if an item was 10% off yesterday, and is 20% of today, it very may well be 30% off tomorrow. The pricing strategies of many retailers may, therefore, actually be contributing to slow sales.

Christmas comes early at the cyber North Pole

December 14th usually marks the end of the online Cyber-Christmas buying season because that is the last day that shoppers can order products and have delivery guaranteed by Christmas. A large part of the Christmas buying-season story will be told on that day. The rest of the story will be played out in the brick-and-mortar stores between that day and Christmas. If sales in traditional stores jump after the 14th, then it just might be a good Christmas season for retail businesses after all.

Combining on-line and in-store sales gives a truer picture

A naturally occurring phenomenon may be the growing interrelationship between on-line and in-store sales. The buying season may simply be spreading beyond Black Friday as a result of increased web retailing. Slower starts to the holiday buying season may not necessarily mean that it will be a disastrous year for retail businesses. Consumers may simply be shopping and buying in a manner different from previous years. This year’s shopper may require many combination retailers to rethink their pricing and discounting strategies to better maximize their profit margins while maintaining strong sales.

The holiday season has a way of pushing the generous, charitable side of people into action. Of course, fighting hunger and poverty are year-round battles, as is providing developing countries with access to education and health care.

But if the holiday season is what it takes to get people into a giving mood, so be it. Giving to charity helps families in the U.S. and all over world, and I recently found out just how far small donations go toward fighting hunger and aiding education, gender equality, health care and infrastructure. You might think juggling debt management and donating money to charity is impossible, but it only takes a little bit of money to make a big difference.

Book recommendation

I learned about what charities do with small donations from a book I read recently, “Give a Little,” by Wendy Smith. Much like the author of this book, I had always thought that I had to make huge sacrifices in order to help the less fortunate. However, from “Give a Little” I learned that donations as small as $3 can make a huge difference in feeding the hungry, fighting disease or helping those who don’t have access to clean water.

“Give a Little” details what different organizations do with small amounts of money, from about $3 to $60. Even just a $5 or $10 donation can lift a whole family permanently out of poverty in some cases. Who doesn’t have $5 to give to sick or starving fellow humans?

Making every dollar count

Of course, I paid $15 for “Give a Little” and then felt very silly knowing how much good that $15 could have done to help people. But I gave the book to my sister and asked her to give it to someone else when she is done, hoping that a chain reaction of giving will follow. This is an example of ripple effect giving, which is talked about at length in “Give a Little.”

However, I recommend you use your $15 to help poor families in developing countries or right here in the U.S. I have compiled a short list of organizations that can do a whole lot of good for a little money. My family agreed to give to these charities this year rather than buying each other more unnecessary stuff, so if you’re struggling to come up with a way to draw more meaning out of the holidays, perhaps this will help.

Heifer International

One of the most inspiring stories in “Give a Little” is about Heifer International, an organization that has been around since World War II. Heifer International provides individuals and families living in poverty in developing countries with the tools they need to feed themselves and their loved ones and make a living.

Donations as small as $20 can help lift a family permanently out of poverty. For instance, $20 buys a flock of chicks. When the chicks are old enough to lay eggs, they provide food for the family, and extra eggs can be sold for substantial income. Once a family escapes poverty and has enough to pay for the children to go to school the cycle stops and the children grow up to be self-sustaiing and entrepreneurial as well. Check out the Heifer International web site for more details on how the organization has helped and does help people all over the world, and find out how as little as $10 can change lives.

More organizations to research

Some of the other organizations I learned about help fight diseases. Nothing But Nets provides insecticide-treated mosquito bed nets to poor people who live in areas where malaria runs rampant. It only costs $10 to help someone avoid this often deadly disease.

Action against Hunger runs feeding centers in Kenya that nurse severely malnourished people back to health. A $50 could save someone’s life. KickStart helps Kenyan farmers by providing inexpensive water pumps to irrigate crops. KickStart says a $60 donation can permanently life a family out of poverty. Maternal and Child Health Product can help 18 mothers have clean, save baby delivies for just $5. The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis says if Americans donate $30 a year for three years they’ll have all the funding they need. Go to GreaterGood.org to learn more.

Most importantly, just remember to give whatever you can, even if it’s only a little bit. Thanks to the internet, donating to worthy causes is easier than ever. With so many people out there living in poverty, just a few dollars can make all the difference in the world. A small amount that won’t make any difference to you could mean all the difference for an unfortunate family.

Saving money is the biggest thing I have in mind for the holidays. I’m going to target anything and everything that can save me money this year. For instance, every year I would buy Christmas wallpaper. It doesn’t matter where I get it, whether it’s from Wal-Mart or the Dollar Store, I still end up spending money. I’ve come to learn that even the smallest spending quickly adds up to a whole lot of money that could, in fact, be going towards a more ideal outlay. So this year I plan to save every penny I can on my Christmas shopping mission.

About that Christmas Wallpaper…

Free Christmas wallpapers are available online. Tons of sites offer free Christmas wallpaper downloads. Like applying for installment loans online, getting free Christmas wallpapers is simple to get, and easy on your budget. As a matter of fact, you don’t even have to budget for it.

FreeChristmasWallpapers.net, for instance, has a huge collection of free Christmas wallpapers. It’s free and easy to download. You can decorate your desktop with beautiful Christmas wallpapers like Christmas paintings, nature, puppies, lights, ornaments, and everything Christmas. You can search through their most recent or most popular Christmas wallpapers for your desktop and household embellishment.

Kate.net also offers free Christmas wallpaper downloads. However, the site has more than just free Christmas wallpapers and screensavers. You can get printable items that include coloring pages, word search puzzles, match games, printable Christmas gift tags, a quiz, a maze, and a word scramble – all for free! Imagine the amount of quick cash you’ll save just from a printing machine.

Spend Less and Save More!

Like I said earlier on, there are tons of sites that offer free Christmas wallpapers. You really shouldn’t spend money on something you can get for free. Of course, spending money for Christmas is inevitable. Not everything comes for free. However, there are many ways to save money – all you need is to look. Lookout for freebies, clip coupons, and compare prices. You will reap great results if you hunt down even the smallest savings you can possibly get your hands on.

Online retailers offer holiday deals

Many people now avoid the hassle of busy stores during the holiday season by shopping online.

Retail stores have long awaited, prepared for and depended on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, as a huge day for sales — a day that can single-handedly put them in the black. Of course, the Internet is changing the way people do everything nowadays, including shop.

Cyber Monday marks the latest shift in shopping trends. Online retailers already are preparing for Cyber Monday, the Monday after Thanksgiving, and the day when online shoppers kick it into high gear and start their online holiday shopping. Retailers hoping to cash in on this trend will be offering special deals on Cyber Monday.

Black Friday still black

Though Cyber Monday is becoming an increasingly popular day for online retailers to pull in fast cash, Black Friday is a big day for online sales as well. Retailers who want to make the most out of holiday shopping season would be wise to run promotions on both Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

I think it is strange that online shopping gets clustered together, and I wonder why Cyber Monday is the day people pick to do their online shopping. Online retailers operate 24/7, so why wouldn’t people get their shopping done Saturday or Sunday?

Holidays keep businesses alive

Black Friday has long been the make-it-or-break-it day for many retailers. It’s called Black Friday because it’s the day that many retailers end up “in the black” for the year.

That is, retailers begin to make a profit on Black Friday after operating at a loss for most of the year. Basically, end-of-the-year holidays are the sole reason many stores stay business.

Find Cyber Monday deals

Besides being a big moneymaker for online retailers, Cyber Monday is also a web site. You can check out all kinds of deals offered on Cyber Monday and find a plethora of online retailers at CyberMonday.com.
