Season 10 of Dancing With The Stars has announced their pairings, and it’s definitely time to take out your dancing shoes – because these duos are nothing short of a fine tango between genius and disaster.

Dancing With The Stars 2010 Pairings are a blend

Season 10 of Dancing With The Stars has trimmed the number of “stars” down to 11. Like any good waltz, this season has three main parts – the genius pairings of great stars with competent partners, the disastrous pairings of stars that probably needed a short term loan just to take the time to compete, and the wild cards that are a little bit of both.

The big names in Dancing With The Stars

When the Dancing With The Stars 2010 pairings were announced, there were a few names that most people probably recognized right away. If history serves, we can expect these names to do at least marginally well, though they’ll most likely make an exit long before the finals. Pamela Anderson brings definite dancing experience to the floor, though translating her Stripperella moves into the foxtrot may prove a challenge. Kate Gosselin, however, openly admits that she has two left feet, and it’ll be up to her partner Tony to translate that and her new hair into a perfect waltz. Jake Pavelka – otherwise known as the Bachelor – is probably going to salsa out quite quickly. After all, doesn’t the now-former bachelor have a honeymoon to attend to?

2010 DWTS crowd favorites

A season or so ago, Steve Wozniak was the “geek appeal” star. This year, they’ve actually got a guy with a chance – Buzz Aldrin. Sure, he’s 80 years old, but this 2010 Dancing With The Stars dark horse may be more competition than anyone thought. He’s proved he has rhythm by rapping with Snoop Dogg, and who better than the first man on the moon to fire up the crowds?

Sure to be Dancing Disasters

Part of the reason Dancing With The Stars is going to be so much fun to watch in season 10 are the stars that seem to be there just for some fast cash. There’s the former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, hoping to jump-start her yet-to-be-released single album. There’s also the never to be underestimated football player Chad Ochocinco and Reno 911 actress Shannen Doherty, sure to provide some “colorful commentary,” if nothing else. Don’t forget the ESPN beauty Erin Andrews, there to give more than a few sports-fan guys someone to cheer for.

The gold medal 2010 Dancing With The Stars Pair

When it comes to dancing away with the prize, athletics and a big smile help a lot. Gold medal figure skater Evan Lysacek hopes to continue the winning tradition of Apollo Anton Ohno, Shawn Johnson and Kristi Yamaguchi – and he has a good chance. Dancing With The Stars is an athletic competition first and foremost, and gold-medal athletes have proven themselves time and time again.

Apollo Moon landing tapes missing – possibly found?

Certainly some among us remember watching the moon landing on July 20th, 1969. It was one of the most watched moments in all of televisions history. Neil Armstrong descended from the Lunar Module and said those famous words, becoming the first human being to walk on the surface of a planetary body other than our own. (Buzz Aldrin became second shortly thereafter, and sowed the seeds of sour grapes in the lunar soil.)

Recently, NASA announced that they had been searching for missing telemetry tapes that were made of the landing for some time, and that there had been no success, no matter how much fast cash they threw into the project. The tapes in question were not the original copies, but backups with possibly better picture quality than the original two inch tape used in TV production at the time.

Throwing in the Towel; Bringing in Hollywood

Instead of giving up all hope, they have decided to take the best surviving footage, and run with it, turning to Lowry Digital, a California based film restoration company. (Click here for the Source.) Lowry expects the project to be completed in September, and NASA will be looking into the possibility of any other tapes left in the tracking center in Parkes, Australia, where the original signal was sent to from the Moon.

Recent Shuttle Activity

The Space Shuttle Endeavor recently lifted off from Cape Canaveral for a rendezvous and mission with the International Space Station, after 5 attempts to launch were scrubbed due to weather. The shuttle was thought to have sustained some damage from liftoff debris, and the crew will be inspecting any damage and making repairs after docking. The Shuttle Program is expected to be ditched in favor of a return to rockets and capsules next year, which will take a cash advance or two to get off the ground, so to speak. (Hey, even NASA is into retro styles!) The rockets are to be dubbed Ares and Orion, respectively.

Missing tapes make conspiracy nuts go….well, nuts!

Apollo moon landing hoax theories have been circulating for years, and no matter how many facts, figures, and objective and empirical proof gets thrown their way, they still won’t keep quiet. This tape debacle, which is a non issue, is going to fan the flames of conspiracy, which defies all manner of sound thinking and has been debunked numerous times. Still, no matter how much evidence is provided, even a cash advance won’t silence the peanut gallery.

Stay Tuned for Part 2 – Conspiracy lovers are going to hate it!
