During the holiday season, Honeybaked Ham sees a significant spike in business. This year, Honeybaked Ham is offering a coupon for $9 off its signature product. Honeybaked Ham is also offering a full Thanksgiving meal, though you do have to “reserve” your ham, turkey or full meal.

Honeybaked Ham coupon

Honeybaked Ham is offering a coupon for the 2010 holiday season that seems like a very good deal. The Honeybaked Ham coupon will get you $9 off an 8-pound or larger ham. You  have to sign up for the company e-mail list and redeem your coupon by Jan. 3 of 2011. While the Honeybaked Ham coupon may seem huge, it is actually only about 11 to 15 percent off the cost of an 8-pound ham. Even with the discount, the price works out to more than $6 per pound.

Honeybaked Ham Thanksgiving Dinner

Honeybaked Ham is also offering a “Honeybaked To The Rescue” Thanksgiving dinner. This includes the ham and/or turkey, sides and dessert. The Honeybaked Ham Thanksgiving dinner will end up costing somewhere between $15 and $20 per person. Compared to the U.S. Department of Agriculture estimate of about $4.70 per person for a Thanksgiving meal cooked at home, a Honeybaked Ham Thanksgiving is an expensive option for your holiday.

Getting the Honeybaked Ham taste

Honeybaked Ham products are very popular because of their slow-glazed, sweet taste. That is much easier to achieve at home than it may seem. The secret is to cook down a glaze until it is nice and thick, and pour it over the meat at the end of cooking, not at the beginning. This helps the glaze adhere to the meat and produces the nice thick, sweet glaze that Honeybaked Ham is popular for. For a basic 8-pound ham (that should only run you $15 or so at the grocery store), mix 1/2 cup of pineapple juice, 1 cup honey, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon each of cinnamon, cloves, allspice, nutmeg, paprika and ginger. Cook on the stove, stirring occasionally, over medium-high heat. Once the mixture is cooked down and thick, but just barely thin enough to pour, coat your ham when it has 15 to 20 minutes left to cook. Finish baking, and there you have it — Honeybaked Ham flavor, without the cost.
