The Samsung Galaxy Tab, one of the latest tablet computers, will be offered on Verizon Wireless. The 7-inch Galaxy Tab will be offered on Nov. 11. The $600 price tag may be the middle ground some are looking for.
Verizon to offer Samsung Galaxy Tab
The Samsung Galaxy Tab is a 3G, Android-based tablet computer. At seven inches across, the Galaxy Tab is smaller than the Verizon iPad, which will retail for $630. Verizon Wireless will be offering a full data plan along with the Galaxy Tab just a couple of weeks after Verizon starts selling the iPad bundle.
Comparing Galaxy Tab and Verizon iPad
With the Galaxy Tab and iPad going head-to-head on the Verizon network, it could be a tough choice. The Galaxy Tab has several competitive advantages. Half the weight of the iPad, the Tab is easier to carry around — and won’t require a MiFi gadget. The Galaxy Tab also has dual cameras, an SD card slot and double the RAM of an iPad. The Tab also supports Flash, unlike the iPad.
Clearer reading on the Galaxy Tab
There are many consumers wondering if the $600 price tag of the Galaxy Tab is worth it, given the smaller size. The higher pixel density of the Tab, however, means that reading on it is much easier on the eyes. The Galaxy Tab does not, however, have the screen real estate of the iPad. The smaller screen doesn’t mean less expensive equipment — in fact, it can often mean more expensive components.
Galaxy Tab vs iPad on Verizon
If you want a tablet computer on Verizon, you will have a few different options. An iPad has a large screen size and more battery life, but a Verizon Galaxy Tab requires fewer accessories and has more program support. In short, whether the Galaxy Tab or iPad on Verizon is best really depends on what you want to do with your tablet computer.
