A new project has been launched called YouCut. The idea is to alert voters to some of the spending cuts before Congress and get them to sound off about them. The originator of the project is House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va). The website highlights spending items and allows people to vote online or use their cell phones and say what they think should be done. Financial reform is a big issue, as the government may be be running for some huge installment loans to keep up before long.
YouCut lets you sound off
When the government spends more than it earns, it is troublesome to many people, including Rep. Eric Cantor. So, he’s come up with YouCut, in which the public, or at least the public on the internet (Luddites are out of luck), can vote on which items they think deserve the axe the most. Five new spending cuts will be offered every week, and you can decide which ones are the most egregious. Eric Cantor is, after all, the House Minority Whip, and he is lending the public his ear regarding what they want cut from the budget.
So how do I vote?
To vote, simply visit the YouCut website, part of Eric Cantor’s Republican Whip website . You can vote online or text your vote in. There will be five choices, or rather, five spending cuts that the House is considering. You choose which of the 5 you think should be made. Currently on the menu are cuts to the Presidential Election Fund, taxpayer subsidies for federal employee union activities, Housing and Urban Development research grants, a non-reformed welfare program and eliminating Community Development and Block Grants to wealthy communities.
Really not a bad idea
One of the great things about the internet is it allows people to communicate with others and voice their opinions. One of the horrible things about the internet is it allows people to communicate with others and voice their opinions. Currently, government spending is a hot issue, and it should be. It’s getting out of hand. According to a recent article from Reuters, the government has posted a deficit for the past 19 months in a row.

Hello Panel,
I have been unemployed for 1.5 years. I hope to get a job soon but until the private sectors can have confidence that the government is not going to tax them out of business.
My solution to save money by the government is to do what the private sector does; CONSOLIDATE all jobs that are duplicates of efforts. 1. There must be 500+ people in the Legislature and Conress. There must be 500,000+ City, State and Government departments. Each Legislature has a building, a Vice-person or Assistant, a secretary and other staff members. The number of members per legislature can be consolidated into sharing 1-20 Assistants and office staff.
2. Cut the number of duplicate agencies into the lowest common denominator. Each building and staff member have costs but by consolidating each state and federal agency, this would cut the overhead a great deal.
3. Outsource as many direct operations to hire non-union workers who will get the job done for less pay.
4. I worked in a unionized company (a community college) which every single job was unionized. What a waste. Unions used to be for skilled labor, not janitorial, maintennance, lanscaping, office administrators, etc. The unions give so many benefits that alot of people take advantage of their benefits. I saw alot of co-workers call in 'sick' or use their vacation time much more times than in electronic companies. Alot use all of their sick and vacation time up but are kept on the job for years. In the electronic environment, if you use up all of your sick leave and vacation time in the year, you will most like get laidoff. There's no accountability with the unionized system.
5. Consolidate as many cities, counties and state departments. Why does every single city have to have a Mayor, a Vice-Mayor and hundreds of office people, maintenance and operations people? For example, I work in a Computer Operations Data Centers for a large Electronic company. My department was 1 of 36 Data Centers. The company found that every Data Center had to have a Director (36), an Assistant Director(36), a Manager for each shift (36 x 3), a Supervisor for each shift and 3-5 (36 x 30 operators) computer operators for every shift. Each Date Center had 25-40 people working in it. When the company consolidated into 2 Data Centers, there were only 2 Directors, 2 Assist Directors, 2 Managers, 2 Supervisors and 5-10 operators per data center. Each Data Center that wasn't being used to expand the product that was being built. I realize, it would be impossible to consolidate cities but we can consolidate the maintenance and operations department by Outsourcing the duplicate jobs.
In conclusion, consolidate to the lowest common denominator in the government because their pay, their benefits, their buildings, cars, trucks, etc. are paid by the private sector. Learn from the private sector and have ownership for your departments. Being in the union, people are not as considerate of each other as the private sector. Treat your department as a revenue driven entity like the private sector. There's no lifetime guarantee in the private sector, why should the government sector have it? People get laidoff more, companies come and go but the companies that continue to invent, create and sell their products are more profitable, more happy on their jobs and treat each other with alot more respect than unionized employees.
Thank you, Roland
This type of regulations would not help at all.
I often think about the hundreds of thousands of men and women who suffered and died to keep this country free. Where are the men and women of honor now in this brazen attempt by this administration to destroy our beloved country?
