Yet another alleged sexual assault case for Ben Roethlisberger

“It’s just boys being boys” went out the window a long time ago. We now live in a society where a certain amount of social restraint and good decision making is expected, and that includes pro athletes like Ben Roethlisberger. Mind you, I’m not convicting Roethlisberger of the charges – that’s a matter for the courts in both cases of alleged sexual assault that he’s faced… within the past year. But it’s becoming painfully clear that the Pittsburgh Steelers’ star quarterback may be getting his signals crossed when it comes to calling audibles in the game of life. Short term loans could help hire a life coach, you know.

Is Big Ben Roethlisberger always in the wrong place at the wrong time?

Well, let’s ask his motorcycle helmet and set the Ben Roethlisberger accuser aside for a moment. Oh wait, Ben Roethlisberger doesn’t wear a motorcycle helmet. Oh well. It only took seven hours of facial reconstruction surgery to teach him on that count.

OK, but are women out there waiting to victimize Big Ben?

First came Andrea McNulty. No criminal charges have been filed, and I heard on ESPN Radio that it’s considered a civil case at this time. It is a civil case whose resolution is still outstanding, so that’s still hanging over Ben Roethlisberger’s head, regardless of how soft the press has gone on the great white QB. Oh, but I said I wasn’t convicting him. Ooops, I lied. The court of public opinion is big boy stuff, Benjy.

Now we have alleged sexual assault case number TWO

This is the second case in less than a year – which can’t be stressed enough. According to various sources, the police are proceeding as if this were a criminal investigation, although at this writing their findings and course of action with Ben Roethlisberger have yet to be made public. The Hollywood Gossip blog – not “hard” journalism, but who said journalism was hard anymore? – writes that Ben Roethlisberger’s accuser reported the alleged incident to police immediately after it is supposed to have happened. Reports indicate Roethlisberger’s accuser appeared “hysterical” and “did not look like a girl who was making it up.”

Ben Roethlisberger has lawyered up for this one

And I’m not talking about Lionel Hutz from “The Simpsons.”

No, Ben Roethlisberger is showing signs that he’s taking things very seriously now. Roethlisberger has hired Ed Garland as legal representation. For those who don’t know, Garland helped Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis beat a murder rap. Does that make him the Johnny Cochran of the NFL? I say “If the glove fits, wear it.”

Why isn’t the media reporting more on Ben Roethlisberger?

If you hear some shadowy media types try to defend themselves by claiming there isn’t enough evidence, you can write them off on the spot. This means that most of the reporting sports media is worthless. Feel free to quote me on that. Ben Roethlisberger has shown a knack for bad decision making off the field lately, and that is bound to spill over onto the field if he keeps it up. Oh, here’s another guarantee: if Ben Roethlisberger were black, he’d be crucified. Ask Kobe Bryant if he felt singled out by the media before his case was settled.

Two Super Bowls, a broken face and a double standard

Bleacher Report asks why every minor detail of the alleged sexual assault case involving Kobe Bryant was sprayed all over the press for everyone to see. So it is guilty until proven innocent for non-white athletes, but the other way around for Caucasians? The press doesn’t seem to care. Where’s that personal conduct policy talk, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell? Oh wait, you’re equal opportunity – Michael Vick gets back on the float after consciously facilitating multiple dog murders, Big Ben isn’t publicly chastised for his embarrassing (possibly criminal) public decisions. Is Ben Roethlisberger skating because his skin is pale enough to show off the soot in the air of the “Steel City?” You decide. We give you the forum to vent, and to look into debt consolidation if that’s up your alley.
