April 16 News Update: Crystal Bowersox ALMOST quits “American Idol.”
“American Idol” contestant Crystal Bowersox went to the hospital yesterday, and the show switched up the schedule to accommodate her. The boys performed last night instead of the girls, who will perform tonight. I’ve got the scoop on why Crystal Bowersox went to the hospital and some thoughts on how it will affect the competition.
Crystal Bowersox’s hospital visit
Crystal Bowersox went to the hospital because of diabetes complications, according to Us Weekly. However, though her absence pushed the girls’ competition to tonight, Crystal Bowersox’s hospital stay was short and sweet. The magazine reports that she is cleared to perform tonight, when the “American Idol” competition will resume with the girls’ performances.
It’s a bit early to be betting your paycheck loans on who is going to take the title, but I think Crystal Bowersox will remain a competitor on “American Idol” for quite some time. Furthermore, Crystal Bowersox’s hospital trip can only improve her chances. Now that she’s all over the news, more people will be paying attention to Crystal Bowersox if they weren’t already.
A different type of contestant
“American Idol” judges have said from the beginning that Crystal Bowersox isn’t your usual “American Idol” contestant. Even Crystal Bowersox herself has said that she never imagined herself being on “American Idol.” She is very open about the fact that she only tried out for “American Idol” because of her son. This woman doesn’t want to rely on payday loan companies to support her family.
Her story and her honesty have won her fans. Her performances have won over viewers like me; she has been one of my favorites all along. Now, Crystal Bowersox’s hospital trip will only improve her chances, as sympathy from the audience will probably affect some voters who didn’t already favor her.
‘American Idol’ this week
Although the boys didn’t get many rave reviews from the judges last night, they seemed prepared for the switch-up. There were a few strange twists as Lee Dewyze and Andrew Garcia left their guitars back stage, and Casey James traded acoustic for electric.
Now that she’s out of the hospital, Crystal Bowersox will be back to perform and compete with the other girls on a two-hour “American Idol” tonight. Just like last week, the results of the vote — meaning who is eliminated — will be announced Thursday.

She has a good voice but really needs to get those teeth fixed. That hair isn't helping the look either. I guess it's hard to take a hick out of a girl.

Crystal, Thank you for the joy you bring each perfomance you have gave us and America each week. Janis has allways been one of my favorite female vocalist, and i only feel excited that in this day, FINALLY we can have a little of that back. thought it would never happen., YOU ROCK GIRL!!!

Wow, every week she just gets a little bit better than the previous week, although it is hard to improve on perfection. Crystal is the whole package, what you see is what you get, and what you get is better than any American Idol Competitor I've seen for several years. I can promise if she doesn't win this season unanimously, I'll never tune my set to American Idol again. Whether she wins or not she will have an oustanding career in the music business, I'm truly surprised, she isn't already making albums. Forget the rest of the idols, Crystal is the real deal, and she is the greatest female vocalist I have ever heard. What a treat, I don't neccessarily look forward to watching AI every week, as this season lacks any real musical talent, But Crystal makes it worth suffering through all the other pitchy, inconsistent, karoake singing wanna be's. Crystal, don't make us wait to long for the CD's, we are all looking forward to listening to you for decades.
Crystal is just a natural! She is true to herself, knows who she is and has a doesnt give a **** attitude. She will win this contest….Janis re-born.
This is by far the worst season of AI ever. Can we just have the next 10 weeks of watching Bowersox instead of the pitchy uninspired and downright elementry no talent windbags ever put on national television. Siobahn has talent but no Clarkson quality…Cody can't carry Gokey's jockstrap and don't get me started on the aweful Tim Urban or the insesisant Katie and Lee can keep dancing in the mirror trying to be Daughtry ughhhh Aaron is downright wretched. I can't believe the judges made such terrible choices with this season…bring back bikini girl!

One other thing get Crystals missing tooth replaced, she is insecure with it and she wants to give us the biggest smile, but the Cameras show she is awkward with it.
We will be watching Crystal climb the charts and Producers dont change this girl, allow her freedom as to what she wants, allow her the final decision.

I'm 64 years old and Janis Joplin was and still is one of my favorites. when i saw Crystal for the first time, i saw a "Janis" in her. When i heard Kelly Clarkson sing for the first, I told my wife she was going to be the next "Idol", and she won. I said the same thing about Crystal…and I hope to be able to buy her music…winner or not!! Honesty, singing talent and a laid back attitude makes her my kind of "American Idol"…even at my age.
Bring it on home girl…and you can buy your own "MERCEDES BENZ".

Crystal Bowersox is amazing. She didn't need "pity" vote due to diabetes, because she was already AMAZING before that!! She can sing anything…I have already bought 2 of her songs on my I-tunes(Me and Bobby Mcgee and Long as I can See the Light) and I plan on getting all of her music!! I wish they were videos because she is an amazing performer as well! This woman is unbelieveable and I will make sure to pass on this huge discovery to all my friends and family! Janis Joplin would have been PROUD of this woman!!!!
