Apologizes for “N-word” comment in Playboy, then offends Vietnamese

John Mayer and Jessica Simpson may have been perfect for each other, in a burning napalm kind of way. (Photo: celebrityhookups.com)
If you’re native Vietnamese and survived the Vietnam War, would you take kindly to celebrities who casually tossed around the fiery topic of napalm in reference to their sexual conquests? Well guess what? John Mayer has opened his mouth again, and he continues to firebomb his reputation among homosapiens who appreciate the benefits of fast cash. Now Googlers want to know the napalm meaning, and what it could possibly have to do with Jessica Simpson.
Is John Mayer racist?
I’m not convinced of that entirely, although he seems to be leaning over the fence just enough to fall in. I am convinced that he doesn’t use a PR person to school him on what not to say in the media. Sure, he has issued an apology for the “N-word” comments to Playboy that launched thousands of “John Mayer racist” and “John Mayer David Duke” searches. But in attempting to depict his previous relationship with fellow gas cloud Jessica Simpson (because she’s a gas, right?), John Mayer has made light of the chemically charred remains of the Vietnam War. Courtesy of Lalate:
“That girl, for me, is [an illegal substance]. And [such substances] aren’t good for you if you do lots of them. Yeah, that girl is like [one such substance] to me… [In bed] it was crazy. That’s all I’ll say. It was like napalm, …. napalm…”
I’m glad he stopped himself there, because I’m sure his next metaphor would have compared her snowy white peaks to British colonialists slaughtering Igbos in “Things Fall Apart.”
But let’s get to the napalm meaning
Thanks to a helpful Gather article, we see that it’s a “gelling agent (napthenic and palmitic acids) mixed with fuels such as gasoline to use in military operations. Napalm is also a generic reference to several flammable liquids used during war. A modern variation of napalm is Napalm B, composed mostly of polystyrene and benzene. Original napalm burns from 15-30 second while Napalm B burns up to 10 minutes.” Harvard chemists developed it for the U.S. Army in 1942, and Dow Chemical Company began to mass produce it for America’s Vietnam “advisorship mission” from 1965-1969.
In the Vietnam War, napalm burned through jungles, people, tunnels or whatever got in its way. It burned and led to asphyxiation and death. Soldiers and civilians died. The U.N. banned napalm being used against civilians in 1980.
Jessica Simpson was like “sexual napalm?”
