Will Disney Wedding Rings Lead to Fairy Tale Weddings?

When I first read the phrase “Disney wedding rings,” pictures of mouse-cut diamonds and bright, cartoon colors flashed in my head. However, it appears that all things Disney don’t have to be about talking animals and magic.

It’s true that Disney is now in the business of designing engagement rings. I suppose it’s a natural progression from the line of bridal gowns Disney released a couple of years ago. Soon enough, Disney will be in the business of everything. Well, everything money can buy.

Disney and diamonds a pricey pair

Although the Disney wedding rings will retail for as low as $1,200 (up to $6,000), they are missing one very important piece: the center stone! Luxist says this is called a “semi-mount,” and basically it means that Disney will design the foundation of  your ring, but when it comes to the stone, you’re on your own.

I’d definitely have to borrow money to pay for a $6,000 ring, never mind having to buy a diamond on top of that. I am aware that people spend much, much more than this on rings on a regular basis. Aaaand … I think it’s crazy.

Who will buy Disney wedding rings?

If the photos at Pascal Mouawad are any indication, the Disney wedding rings just look like regular engagement rings. I suppose how well they sell will simply depend on whether brides to be or gusty, independent grooms-to-be like the designs. However, a word to the wise: if you or someone you know is insistent upon having a Disney wedding ring just because it’s Disney, that person might be too young to get married.

Kirstie Kelly, the designer of the Disney wedding dresses, also designed the Disney wedding rings. The full name of the jewelry line is “Kirstie Kelly for Disney by Mouawad.” And, yes, the rings were inspired by Disney heroines Jasmine, Ariel, Cindarella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and Belle.

  1. foam koozie styles says:

I really like the typewritten look and the wording of the bottom invite. I think I might sneak the “public declaration of our love” into our invite somewhere.

  2. Melesha says:

$1200 for a ring with no stone is kind of ridiculous.

  3. Shannon says:

Disney has had fairytale weddings at Disney World for years, the wedding chapel overlooks the castle. It is a natural progression to have wedding rings.

  4. Pensacola Beach weddings says:

Disney does have a great wedding venue. It’s not surprising they would also add wedding rings.

  5. Wedding band guy says:

Disney just may have made what on paper seems like a very smart move. After all, millions of people get married year after year. But will fans of “The Little Mermaid” be willing to spend money on their bridal jewelry in such a tough economic time? With the popularity of the less expensive metals for wedding bands growing, I am not so sure if that generation will be spending much on wedding jewelry in general. Well, maybe the women will, so perhaps Disney has made a good move. Their new jewelry does look very nice.

  6. Rick says:

It’s an interesting concept and brand extension. I am curious to know if the thinking behind this is that no matter what the economy situation, people are willing to always get married.

  7. Rings says:

A lot of people will buy a Disney wedding rings. A fairytale wedding motive is popular so why not include some stuffs like rings.
