Rumors about more Rush Limbaugh racist quotes are circulating, and it has been revealed that Rush Limbaugh expressed interest in purchasing the St. Louis Rams. Colts owner Jim Irsay told USA Today that he would not vote to allow Limbaugh to buy the team.

Sseveral people — including Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson — have called for the NFL commissioner to block Limbaugh’s efforts.

This time, it’s personal

Most accounts of the story involving Rush Limbagh’s plan to buy the Rams and Jim Irsay’s comments say the same thing: It is because of Rush Limbaugh’s racist quotes from past shows that so many people are against him purchasing the team. I bet Rush Limbaugh couldn’t even try to get a personal loan without someone objecting to it. He has a whole lot of enemies.

Specifically, people are discussing the on-air quotes that led to Rush Limbaugh leaving his post as an commentator for ESPN. Rush Limbaugh said Donovan McNabb was being unjustly glorified because he is black. There are some other Rush Limbaugh racist quotes making the rounds out there that he denies saying.

He says he didn’t say it

Jim Irsay said the Rush Limbaugh racist quotes were the main reason he would not vote for him to buy the Rams. “Our words do damage and it’s something that we don’t need. We need to get to a higher level of humanity and we have,” Jim Irsay said, talking specifically about Rush Limbaugh’s comments regarding McNabb.

Mixing business with pressure

Apparently Rush Limbaugh’s personal opinions now are starting to affect his business dealings. Buying the St. Louis Rams could have potentially been extremely lucrative for Rush Limbaugh, but several players said they wouldn’t want to stay on the team if he owned it.

I guess it just goes to show how damaging it really can be when people think you’re a jerk.

Discussion of Jim Irsay Says He Wouldn’t Support Limbaugh Buying Rams

This post has one comment

  1. Peter Stone says:

I would hope not – even Mark Cuban (owner of the Dallas Mavericks, a controversial person in his own right) thinks the NFL would be crazy to hire Limbaugh. The guy makes Al Davis look like a saint. (To this day, some refer to Oakland as the Traitors because of the move to LA.) And speaking of Jim Irsay, Baltimore fans are STILL livid that the Colts were moved to Indianapolis, speaking of NFL controversies. (Legendary Colts QB Johnny Unitas deeply resented move from Baltimore, and maintained that the Ravens were the true successor, and that Indianapolis isn’t the same team.)
Limbaugh would be a PR nightmare – and the guy isn’t exactly what some would call “intelligent.”
