Daytime Emmy Awards go well into the night

Apparently airing the Daytime Emmy Awards 2009 Winners show at night was not a very good business decision for the Emmy organizers. I mean, it’s the Daytime Emmy Awards, right? Shouldn’t the show be, I don’t know, in the daytime?

Anyway, the trouble is that some of the Daytime Emmy Awards 2009 Winners’ speeches didn’t make it onto the CW, the network airing the Daytime Emmy Awards 2009 Winners. The broadcast was cut off at 10 p.m., even though the show went on afterward. I have all the information you need about Daytime Emmy Awards 2009 winners.

Best Drama Series

Apparently “Best Drama Series” is a fancy way of saying “soap opera,” kind of like instant cash loan is another way of saying payday loan. Anywho, that award went to “The Bold and the Beautiful” for the first time. This also marked the first time in 22 years that a CBS program has won Best Drama Series.

By the time this Daytime Emmy Awards 2009 winner was announced, the CW had ceased its broadcast, despite the fact that this is considered the biggest award at the Daytime Emmy Awards. Last year this award went to “General Hospital.”

Best Talk Show Host

Ellen DeGeneres has held the honor of Best Talk Show host for four years, but the Daytime Emmy Awards 2009 winners for Best Talk Show Host were the women of “The View.”

This makes absolutely no sense to me. Why would anyone choose to watch a group of women try to talk over each other and everyone else when they could watch Ellen have phone conversations with old women who say things like “I love Jesus, but I do drink a little”? I do not understand this Daytime Emmy Awards 2009 winner, and apparently the women from “The View” were not expecting it because they weren’t even at the awards show.

Lifetime Achievement Award

The Daytime Emmy Awards 2009 winner for Lifetime Achievement was “Sesame Street,” which has been on the air for 40 years. I guess one can’t really argue with that.

Kevin Clash, who plays Elmo, was the Daytime Emmy Awards 2009 winner for Best Performer in a children’s series. I bet Elmo would also win for “making the most money off of merchandise” if there were such an award.

Actors and actresses

The Daytime Emmy Awards 2009 winner for Lead Actress in a Drama Series went to Susan Haskell of “One Life to Live.” Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series is Christian LeBlanc from “The Young and the Restless.”

Tamara Braun from “Days of Our Lives” won Best Supporting Actress in a drama series. There was a tie between Vincent Irizarry, “All My Children,” and Jeff Branson, “Guiding Light” for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

Youngsters

When I saw the category Best Younger Actress in a Drama Series, I kind of expected the awards would go to child actors and actresses, but apparently 25 is “younger.” That’s the age of Julie Berman from “General Hospital,” who took home that award.

Best Younger Actor in a Drama Series went to 25-year-old Darin Brooks from “Days of Our Lives.”

Fun and games

The Daytime Emmy Awards 2009 winner for Best Game-Audience Participation Show went to “Cash Cab,” everybody’s favorite random trivia for random people show.

Best Game Show Host went to Meredith Vieira, who is the host of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.”

Talking about talk shows

Best Talk Show-Entertainment went to “Rachael Ray,” and Best Talk Show-Informative went to “The Tyra Banks Show.” Who would have thought Tyra Banks would grow up to have the best informative talk show?

Best Morning Program went to “Good Morning America.” Other Daytime Emmy Awards 2009 winners include “One Life to Live” for Best Directing in a Drama Series and “General Hospital” for Best Writing in a Drama Series.

I agree. I would watch “Ellen DeGeneres” over “The View” any day. Ellen doesn’t try to be like someone else or act all high and mighty. She’s just Ellen. The women of “The View” do a lot of bickering and are often loud and obnoxious. I really don’t see what you’ll gain by watching them. Then again, my cousin Rose Mary, a very respectable individual in the police force, seems to really like their show. So maybe there is ’some’ good behind their piercing tantrums. However, I doubt I will ever know.
