It’s tough sledding for all of us out there when it comes to making our mortgage and rent payments. Payday loans and short term loans might help once in a while, but the hard reality is that what we’re earning has failed to keep up with everyday costs. Being in a recession doesn’t help, either.
You’d think that more people would be renting apartments after the real estate bubble burst, but the fact is that the recession has hit apartment complexes hard, too. According to The Wichita Eagle, a July 2009 survey of vacancies by the Wichita Apartment Guide shows that occupancy rate was 92.1 percent. This seems like a solid rate, but consider that the rate was 95 percent during the summer of 2008. People are remaining at home because they can’t afford to pay regular rent.

Free rent for a whole entire year!? I’m in. I doubt I’ll win, but it wouldn’t hurt to try. I think it’s wonderful what Apartment Guide is doing. Then again, could this be just another one of those schemes to get more followers? There’s no doubting they will after advertising such an offering.
