Jon Gosselin’s girlfriend, Hailey Glassman, has been thrust into the spotlight faster than you can say “payday loan companies.” After she started dating the costar of “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” word has spread like wildfire about Hailey Glassman mugshots.
Yes, they are out there. So are handfuls of articles saying “Jon Gosselin’s girlfriend is a party girl.” The Hailey Glassman mugshot is from when she got caught with marijuana in college.
A silly spotlight
Personally, I do not place “22-year-old girl likes to party” in the “news” category. I think it’s pretty ridiculous that people are making a big deal about the fact that Glassman likes to drink and stay out late.
I kind of feel sorry for Glassman, but perhaps she doesn’t really mind. A story in People magazine quotes a source saying “she craves attention.” Well, if she likes the attention and isn’t embarrassed, perhaps she’s just laughing it off and thinking the same thing I am: “Why are these people so fascinated that a college-age woman likes to party?”
The answer, of course, is that she’s Jon Gosselin’s girlfriend.
Accidental entrepreneur
Of course, if this over-hyped relationship goes well, Jon Gosselin’s girlfriend stands to gain quite a lot. For one, Jon Gosselin is in negotiations right now with Ed Hardy designer Christian Audigier regarding making a children’s clothing line.
Glassman will also have a hand in creating the kid-friendly fashions. “She’ll have a lot of input with Christian,” Gosselin told PEOPLE of Hailey’s involvement. “And I will, too.”
So the title “Jon Gosselin’s girlfriend” could translate into a job as a fashion designer. That ought to be lucrative.

If TLC show about the Gosselins raising eight children continues and things go really well for Jon Gosselin and his girlfriend, who knows? Hailey Glassman could end up with a big slice of reality show pie and a paycheck to go with it.
I just hope she’s in it for love and not money. That’s an easy thing to say, though. What happens when you love money?
More work for the Gosselin kids
Since the inception of the show, the Gosselins have received criticism from groups who say the kids are being exploited. There was even an order for the Pennsylvania child labor board to investigate the family.
Nonetheless, Jon will keep his kids busy and in the public eye if his clothing line becomes a reality.
Gosselin tells PEOPLE that his eight kids … will model his designs in ads for the line. Audigier tells PEOPLE that he approached Gosselin with the idea after noticing that the reality show dad often wore his tattoo-inspired T-shirts on Jon and Kate Plus Eight. “He’s huge,” says the French designer, who may also collaborate with Gosselin on a specialty motorcycle collection. “Everyone knows this family. And everyone will know our clothes. They’ll be fun, easy clothes for kids.”
Can we please stop giving this guy – and his ex wife for that matter, and his kids for that matter as well – attention? So he had eight kids and got divorced? BIG DEAL. A lot of people have done both of those things and never got so much as kudos for it, and certainly not $10 million. And he’s getting a fashion line – you get a bunch of monkeys and stencils and you can get a fashion line – actually, that gives me a great idea. Give monkeys pen and paper, see what they do with it, screen print the results and sell them! (I’d probably clean house – I think PETA might go for it.) I can’t think of a name for it – but I got a great slogan: “Wear these shirts and you won’t be CHIMPING on fashion!” I think some sort of spin on Darwin would fit – Origin Fashion or something up that alley. Just a thought. And someone get the Gosselins off TV. They are emphatically, compellingly mediocre – one of those kids had better invent a longer lasting light bulb or a cure for cancer or something.
