Recapping Michaelmania, the court story
Michael Jackson apparently did write out a will in 2002, but it was never filed with the court. Now it has been filed, and it does not specify where he wanted to be buried. Considering how much of a surprise his death was, I don’t imagine there were last minute revisions. What is clear is how the estate will be divided up.
His mother Katherine, children and a list of charities will be party to the estate, which was valued at $500 million in 2002. Forty percent of the estate was to go to Katherine, but she has said she’ll give it to Michael’s kids. Another 40 percent will go to the kids, and the final 20 percent will go to charity.
Debbie Rowe is not in the will. In fact, it reads as follows: “I have intentionally omitted to provide for my former wife, Deborah Rowe Jackson.”
Will Katherine be the guardian of the kids?
Upon Katherine's death, Diana Ross becomes guardian of Michael's kids...
Or will Debbie Rowe challenge her for custody? That remains to be seen. However, one Los Angeles TV news broadcast quoted Rowe as saying, “I want my children.”
Since Katherine is 79, what will happen when she dies? According to the will, 65-year-old singer Diana Ross is nominated.
Who’ll control the assets?
Right now, it’s Katherine Jackson. But John Branca and John McClain are possible executors.
What about Michael’s doctor?
The DEA and California Attorney General are on the case. The AG’s office is currently working with Los Angeles police to sift through the information regarding the medication that is believe to have been involved in Michael’s death. Michael’s doctors will be examined from the standpoint of whether proper practices were used and what the source of the medication may have been.
“We routinely offer assistance to any agency regarding the Federal Controlled Substance Act,” said Sarah Pullen of the DEA. “However, at this time, we have nothing further to comment about the death of Michael Jackson.”
Attorneys of Jackson personal Dr. Conrad Murray have asked for the public to reserve judgment until the autopsy results are final.
Never, Neverland
The public viewing and private memorial planned for Neverland was impossible to pull off. The logistics of arrangement were just too difficult in a short period of time. Michael’s body would have been taken from Los Angeles to the ranch in Santa Barbara County, but it was determined to be too expensive and too difficult.
Now, Jackson fans and the media line the road to Neverland, waiting for a service that isn’t going to happen. Whether or not Bubbles will be brought in via helicopter from his Florida ape resort is unclear at this time.

Michael was a true icon, when my children wee growing-up, they had to have the MJ jacket, pants and glove, the truly idolized him….I have also lost a son…It is horrible thing to happen to a mother or family. So sorry for your loss as well as the loss to the world…..

The Jackson family had contradicting ideas on the location of Michael Jackson’s funeral. Michael’s father and brothers wanted Michael to be buried in Neverland, where he would be driven through the streets and fans could line up and throw flowers, much like Princess Diana’s funeral. But of course, like you mentioned, logistical problems are enormous. I wish I could be there for the ceremony, but I’ll be sure to tune in on television to watch this historic event. RIP Michael.
