Hometown Vacationing without using Personal Loans

Save money vacationing right where you live!

My imagination helps me accumulate more money than receiving hefty personal loans. It’s something about the adventure in accepting and seeking out the unknown that makes your inner child emerge, if only momentarily. When your inner child does spring forth, however, you’re sure to have great fun and save some bucks in the process. So many things lie around your city for you to experience at little to no cost. These are just a few examples:

• Abandoned Buildings
• Road Kill
• Practically Demolished Streets
• Littered Parks

But underneath all that rotting boringness that seems to be surrounding you, there is a thin veneer of mystery and excitement waiting to be encountered. There are so many things that you haven’t tried. I know, a day vacationing in the same city showed me things that I never thought existed in medium town Toledo, Ohio. Be sure to only take these ideas as a starting point. There should be many more things for you to do in your own city.

First: Out to Breakfast

I love going out to breakfast. There’s just something about getting up early, especially when you don’t really have to, and enjoying the bird’s chirps, the fresh morning air, and the caffeine deprived employees screaming on their way to work. All of these things fill me with pleasure, and so does turkey bacon, pancakes, toast, and scrambled eggs. And Breakfast usually costs a lot less than going out to lunch or dinner!

Never Experienced Before

What about trying someplace new? What I like to do is a simple Google search on breakfast restaurants in the area. There might be some that I’ve driven past, only to lift my top lip in offense of the very notion I’d step foot through the threshold. But alas, I when I step out on faith and visit the place, I usually find that I enjoy the employees, and in most cases, like the food.

Second: A Light Walk in the Park

Sometimes, a light walk in the park is a great idea, and anything free of charge adds more merit to the activity. If you could save those personal loans for financial emergencies instead of Friday night movies, which would you choose? Remember that it’s best to take a “light” walk after you’ve had a light breakfast as well. Piling tons of food into your stomach and them walking could lead to some horrible cramps. So if you do plan on walking after breakfast, your meal shouldn’t be light as a feather or heavy as a sumo wrestler reading an Anne Rand novel with a car on his back (now that’s heavy).

Sometimes, it seems, just walking and talking can make the day seem longer and filled with feelings of being far away from home. In my opinion, that’s the feeling you want to achieve when vacationing in the city: getting to know your town better, while discovering more than you even realized was there. Knowledge of location doesn’t equal the experience of location participation.

Third: Do something… different

I get a lot of flak for this, but I encourage my friends to join me at the theater on my local vacations. If I’m not suggesting we watch a play, then I’m suggesting we go to the opera, visit the local museum, or river dance on the highest building. Who cares?! As long as we’re having a good time and experiencing something different, we are vacationing as much as the individual packing and heading for Paris, France to sightsee.

Never pass up a chance to go out and explore your city. There are lots of things you never knew existed. To remain prideful and arrogantly ignorant of different cultures, historical events and buildings, diverse races, and international activities would be lunacy. Whether you’re going out to vacation in your local town, or right up the block to secure a few personal loans, make sure to do it with an open mind, then you’ll be on vacation 365 days of the year.
