Order free tickets to Youngstown Air Show
Now more than ever, families are seeking cheap, kid-friendly activities to do this summer. The Youngstown Air Show, officially the Youngstown Air Reserve Show, will provide free entertainment in August, and tickets are available starting today.
Even though the Youngstown Air Show is free, you must have a ticket to get in. You can get tickets from www.youngstownairshow.com, but hurry.
Online ordering only
As far as I can tell, ordering online is the only way to get tickets to the Youngstown Air Show. Although there are 35,000 tickets available for the show, they are free and this is the first time in 23 years Youngstown Air Reserve has put on the show. The Youngstown Air Show is Aug. 8 and 9 in Vienna, Ohio, on the Youngstown Air Reserve Base.
Youngstown history
Youngstown Air Reserve Base is also called the Youngstown-Warren Air Reserve Station, and it is in Vienna, Ohio, about 11 miles north of Youngstown and 10 miles east of Warren.
Youngstown Air Reserve Base is in Trumbull County and operates with Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport.

Performers
The Thunderbirds will be doing demonstrations at the Youngstown Air Show. According to the Thunderbirds’ web site, this year they are flying the Lockheed Martin F-16 Block 52 aircraft.
The Thunderbirds’ web site also says that the Thunderbirds were designated the U.S. Air Force’s official demonstration team in 1953, six years after the U.S. Air Force was established as an independent service.
Inspiration for the Thunderbirds
The Thunderbirds are based at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, Arizona. The Group was named after the Thunderbird fabled in American Indian legend, a giant fowl that commands fear and respect.
The Thunderbird in the story shot bolts of lightning from its eyes and couldn’t be defeated by any other creature. The Thunderbirds’ web site says the legend of the Thunderbird made its ways across the country by word of mouth.
A diverse group
The web site says the Thunderbirds, who will perform at the Youngstown Air Show, are made up of 140 officers from 30 different career fields.

Note: The Air Force Thunderbirds are not based out of Luke Air Force Base. They were founded at Luke but they are based out of Nellis AFB, Nevada.
