Myxer.com has a plethora of free cell phone ringtones, wallpapers and games, but that’s not all. My favorite feature at myxer.com is you can use it to turn mp3 files or even original music into ringtones.
Not everything at myxer.com is free, there are plenty of things to spend instant cash on. But there is just as much stuff that is free.
No more pricey promotions
Every week I get a text message on my phone offering to let me download a new ringtone and pay at least $2 for the privilege. If it’s a really popular song or ringtone, sometimes it costs up to $5.
I’ve gotten sucked in before; I have paid up to $1.49 for a ringtone because I just had to have it. But it always seemed silly and wasteful to me to spend money on ringtones.

Do-it-yourself ringtones
Scrolling through the catalog of ringtones available for download on my phone can get frustrating. It’s so tough to find THAT song. The song that I will hear multiple times a day. The song that could mean “Your best friend wants to talk to you!” Or the song that could mean “You owe us money!”
However, if you already have a song in mind and want to skip the whole searching-through-the-phone business, you can upload it to Myxer and it will convert it into a ringtone for you. For free!
Great features for bands
Best of all, you can turn original music into ringtones. This could be used as a great promotional tool. Get some of your friends to download your band’s song and use it as their ringtones. Then, when your phone rings around your friends’ friends, chances are someone will ask about the song.
It’s instant free publicity! All the better if the reason the friend’s friend asked is because they thought “Hey, that’s a cool song.” Myxer also promotes unsigned artists’ ringtones by giving them away on the site.

Besides ringtones, you can also download wallpaper, games, photos and videos. You have to be careful, because there are some pricey offerings available on Myxer.com alongside the free stuff. So be prepared to use restraint if you don’t want to spend any money.
One good piece of advice if you want to avoid spending money is do not click on the “storefront” tab. Remember, stores are for selling things. That means everything at “storefront” on Myxer costs money.
I do NOT agree that myxer is a free no hidden costs ringtone site.. i was surprised to find a 9.99 charge on my cell phone bill after I had supplied the info to myxer for a “FREE” ring tone. I had to get a 5 digit “code” sent to my phone so that I could enter a 4 digit code that was sent with the five digit code into the myxer site, that was the text that cost me 9.99, so this ad from you is VERY misleading in itself!! I think that maybe myxer paid you to say that it was free!!
i have noooo idea if this article by jeff is true or not. my friend uses myxer all the time and never mentioned the ten bucks more she had to pay. she sent some stuff to my phone too so if i get a bill i will let you guys know.
