John Ziegler targets targeters
John Ziegler, maker of the film “Media Malpractice: How Obama Got Elected and Sarah Palin Was Targeted,” is all over the news following a contentious interview on MSNBC with Contessa Brewer.
If “How Obama Got Elected” sounds like your kind of movie, here’s a way you can save a little money.
HowObamaGotElected.com
If you want to buy a copy of “How Obama Got Elected,” your first instinct might be to head to Amazon.com and look for a used copy. However, copies on Amazon.com right now are going for $17.
If you head to John Zieger’s web site, www.howobamagotelected.com, copies of “How Obama Got Elected” are on sale for $15. Of course, after shipping you’ll only end up saving 48 cents. However, if you believe in John Ziegler’s message and want to support him without donating your cash advances, buying “How Obama Got Elected” through the official web site is probably a good start.
How much money did John Ziegler spend?
John Ziegler spent $200,000 of his own money on making “How Obama Got Elected,” according to “RantRave.” It doesn’t say whether that was the entire cost of the film, but I have seen plenty of documentaries that were made for less.
Famous documentarian Michael Moore only spent $160,000 creating his first film “Roger & Me.” Of course, that was before he made it big. His recent film “Sicko” cost $9 million to make.
John Ziegler’s two cents
The $200,000 John Zieger spent included a trip to Alaska to interview Sarah Palin. John Ziegler says Palin was negatively targeted by the mainstream media. His response was to make a documentary negatively targeting the mainstream media and Obama supporters, who he says are one in the same.
John Ziegler’s web site features a seven-minute trailer for “How Obama Got Elected,” and video footage of Obama supporters looking and sounding foolish. Much of the film is dedicated to discussion about how uninformed voters who cast their ballots for Obama were. John Ziegler blames the media for both voters’ lack of information and for the results of the election.
The mislabeling of journalism
The subtitle on “how Obama Got Elected” (as if the full title weren’t enough) is “The Death of Journalism.” However, it would be noted that in discussions about how the mainstream media portrayed Obama and Palin, he includes clips from “Saturday Night Live” and “The David Letterman Show.”
So apparently John Zieger views SNL and Letterman as journalism, judging by the subtitle of his film.
The scuffle with Contessa Brewer
The dustup between MSNBC reporter Contessa Brewer and John Ziegler was caused by Ziegler’s repeated insistence that MSNBC, a popular news organization, was biased.
Contessa Brewer said John Ziegler had insulted her and asked that his microphone get cut off before she signed off at the end of her broadcast.
How to make money on a documentary?
As far as I know, there are no plans for John Ziegler’s documentary “How Obama Got Elected” to be shown in theaters. So, if Ziegler is selling them for $15 a pop, I estimate he’ll need to sell about 20,000 copies if he wants to make a profit.
But if he is in it for the money, John Ziegler very well may have come to the right place. His web site claims that clips from “How Obama Got Elected” have been viewed more than 2 million times. John Ziegler also has scheduled screenings of “How Obama Got Elected,” which cost $ per ticket.

For as much of it as he does, Ziegler should be on salary with Palin’s PR people. What’s next has to be a video on YouTube of him pleading to “Leave Sarah Alone!” This is obviously an unhealthy obsession – Ziegler needs an intervention. On a further note, how Obama got elected was through a process known as “voting.” Voting happens in democratic societies, including republics such as ours, whereas in one party dictatorships – which seems to be the aim of the Republican Party, and the Democrats at times too, but more so the Republicans – and when people vote, they are saying who they want to be their leader for the prearranged time limit. (4 years in this case, no more than 8.) According to research, in this last election, the bulk of the votes were for Barack Obama, and since he’s so concerned, the majority of votes went to Al Gore in 2000 – but we all know how that turned out. (Tragically!) This guy is nuts. There’s a saying – “The nail that sticks up is swiftly pound down”- how that applies to politicians and so forth is that if you WILLINGLY enter the public arena, like for an election campaign, then the consequences of doing so (adverse publicity, ridicule, satire, jokes in poor taste or good taste at said persons’ expense) are therefore natural consequences, and in being natural consequences, the person entering the public arena’s fault for doing so if they aren’t prepared to accept what happens. Why this matters is that proponents and fans of said people have to understand it, because if they don’t, then they are dropping the intellectual ball.
I am pleased to have Barack Obama as our President. However, I am compelled to state the obvious. It appears many people were in favor of Obama because of the color of his skin. Of course, this is truly a landmark moment in the American history, something I myself am truly proud of. But the fact that a great number of people were only for Obama for petty reasoning and not for his belief, principle and dream for a better America somewhat disturbs me. And, yes, Sarah Palin was definitely targeted the most throughout the whole campaign. And I must say, she handled it pretty well. She is kind and meek yet powerful and stern. I admire her as a woman, but most importantly her ability to balance and stand firm.
