Jimmy Fallon interviews Zack Morris

zack_morrisI hope you saw Mark Paul Gosselar on Jimmy Fallon last night, but if not you can watch Zack Morris and Jimmy Fallon’s interview online by clicking the link at the end of this article.

On “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” Zack Morris took the stage, complete with white high-tops, acid wash jeans and his legendary giant cell phone. Of course, he was introduced as Mark Paul Gosselaar on Jimmy Fallon, but he explained:

“I had to change my name to Mark-Paul Gosselaar because there was already a Zack Morris in SAG,” Zack Morris said on Jimmy Fallon’s show.

Time out

Of course, the highlight of Mark Paul Gosselar on Jimmy Fallon was when he proved he was the real Zack Morris by using his time-honored time-out trick. He also agreed to attend Jimmy Fallon’s planned “Saved by the Bell” reunion.

Zack Morris has become an actor who goes by the name Mark Paul Gosselar, he told Jimmy Fallon. His new show is called “Raising the Bar,” and as we all know, Mark Paul Gosselaar hasn’t needed a cash loan since “Saved by the Bell” because he’s had steady work.

Bringing in the dough

At the age of 12, Mark Paul Gosselaar was already landing bit parts on TV shows. He hit the big time in 1988, at 14, when he landed the part of Zack Morris on “Saved by the Bell,” which was then called “Good Morning Miss Bliss.”

After that series and “Saved By the Bell: College Years,” Mark Paul Gosselaar took on a few small movie roles, and later landed a regular gig on “NYPD Blue,” which kept the paychecks flowing in steadily.

The newest job

Zack Morris on Jimmy Fallon discussed his high school summer job at Malibu Sands resort, reminiscing on the good old days. Nowadays, he plays Jerry Kellerman on the TNT original drama “Raising the Bar.”

The director of “Raising the Bar,” Stephen Bochco, has won 10 Emmy Awards. “Raising the Bar” has been signed for a second season, so Mark Paul Gosselaar should be getting a steady paycheck for a while yet.

Saved by the script

Most of Zack Morris’ former classmates have been pretty successful as well, including his ex-wife, Kelly Kapowski. Tiffani Amber Thiessen went straight from her good-girl role on “Saved by the Bell” to play a homewrecking vixen on “Beverly Hills, 90210.”

Elizabeth Berkley, who played hardcore feminist Jessie Spano, went on to play a stripper on “Showgirls.” Unfortunately, “Showgirls” bombed at the box office, making only $20 million. This was particularly unfortunate for a film that had a budget of more than twice that at $45 million. However, because of its infamous terribleness, the film has become a cult classic and no doubt at least managed to break even because of video rental sales.

Mario Lopez, also known as A.C. Slater, holds a steady hosting various TV shows for E! News, MTV and Extra. So far, Zack Morris, Jessie Spano, Lisa Turtle, Mr. Belding and A.C. Slater have agreed to attend a “Saved by The Bell” reunion on Fallon’s show.
