Kevin Trudeau’s ups and downs

kevintrudeauYou may have seen an infomercial for any number of Kevin Trudeau products. He has hawked several books, including “Natural Cures ‘They’ Don’t Want You to Know About.”

Kevin Trudeau’s books have made it onto the best-sellers list as consumers seeking help hit up payday lenders so they could buy the books as soon as possible. Unfortunately for Kevin Trudeau, a couple of his books have also been labeled fraud by consumer agencies, and he has been fined tens of millions of  dollars for violating an agreement to refrain from being in any way involved with more infomercials.

Kevin Trudeau history

Let’s take a look at the beginning of Kevin Trudeau’s career. In 1991 Kevin Trudeau was convicted of credit card fraud. Christopher Pascale of suite101.com reports that after Kevin Trudeau completed his sentence, he and his former cell mate “started an illegal pyramid scheme based around the concept of multi-level marketing, selling vitamins.”

This began Kevin Trudeau’s stint in selling “health care” products.

The many products of Kevin Trudeau

In thousands of hours of infomercials, Kevin Trudeau sold products to cure hair loss and to cure addiction. He advertised books on improving your memory and released best-selling “The Weight Loss  Cure ‘They’ Don’t Want You to Know About.’ That’s when Trudeau’s Troubles Part II began.

Long story short, in 2004, Kevin Trudeau was ordered by a federal judge “to pay more than $5 million and banned him, for three years, from producing or publishing infomercials for products in which he has an interest,” according to the FTC web site. Basically, this was the result of misrepresenting his book and making false claims about other health-related products.

Violating court orders

In 2005 he released the book “Natural Cures ‘They’ Don’t Want You to Know About.” Once again, he hawked his wares on late-night infomercials, violating his court order. Now he owes $37 million, thanks to a court decision from January.

According to MSNBC, consumers who purchased the book felt duped, saying it didn’t contain any actual information and only promoted his web site, NaturalCures.com. In fact, they felt so duped the started contacting consumer protection boards. Ironically, the lawsuit spurred sales for the book. Ironically, while the lawsuit was pending, sales of the book skyrocketed because of the publicity generated by the trial. Kevin Trudeau also released a second edition called “More Natural ‘Cures’ Revealed.”

Into the financial sector

Kevin Trudeau’s latest book, “Debt Cures ‘They’ Don’t Want You to Know About,” seems to be veering more toward the truthful side of things. It does contain some good information and advice about getting out of debt.

However, “Debt Cures” has been heavily criticized for only containing information that is easily accessible by anyone with an internet connection or a basic understanding of finance. I haven’t seen any legal action pending regarding this book, but I do know that in the United States it is not illegal to charge people money for something they could get for free somewhere else. I’ve seen it happen frequently.

KT says that he “makes no money” off his “Debt Cures” book. So what actually happens to the $20+ dollars that people pay for the book… does it go to the corrupt bookpublishers THEY don’t want us to know about?

    • ;dlfkjg says:

The first thing I think anytime I see ANY infomercial that claims by using the product you can make or get money very easily is “If this program shows how easily it is to make or get your hands on money, then why are they selling this product to make money to begin with???” Bottom line is, if the program they’re advertising claims that making or getting money is easy when you use the program, then they probably wouldn’t have gone through all the trouble to make the product in the first place because the program itself should already be making them all the money they ever need. And from what I’ve seen and heard, it seems like Kevin Trudeau goes through A LOT of trouble to sell you his products and special offers. Chances are, if the information was free, then is would have been much more credible (however, that’s not always the case. You just have to be smart about the information you find for free).

Good for you!!!!! Those who are able to multiply their wealth with their initial labors, then show others how to do it for free with no strings attached, would be the wealthiest and the greatest humanitarians for sharing and not receiving a penny for what they share. The problem with the people is simply that they do not have the self-discipline in the first place to multiply the money of their labors, and second, if they did, they would not need this information in the first place!!!!!

  3. emosso says:

ya, why doesn’t the book just get published on the internet? Free for viewing?? For like 5dollars or something.. ?

oR, AT LEAST, just the websites…Seriously, K.T.. if you are listening…you should post this information from your book, where people can find it for free…

I suppose he needed to be published….to gain ‘cred again…but…it’s still not good enough….

Best things in life are free..if not, they should be

  4. dayman says:

Hey, maybe someone should cut his head off. That way lying would no longer be a issue. Look, he steals, because he can. When he comes to a understanding that people are willing to take his head off. At that point he may stop stealing. He is only doing what the big bogs on wall street are doing and that’s stealing. If his life was on the line, he would stop doing these lying informercials.

  5. Lina says:

wow the fda has to stop trying to make him look bad . we all know that the fda is only all bout the money and not our health

  6. Janice says:

I know for a fact that you can find “missing money” in any state government website, and you don’t have to “pay a penny for it.”

  7. Charlene says:

I agree with Lina. If we all started using natural remedies instead of the pills, etc. the Government is pushing on us through our doctors and medical facilities, then the Government would lose out on billions of dollars. Lina is right, they don’t care about us at all.
So what if some one is making a few dollars. I think Kevin is right on target and I believe it is our Government who is committing fraud against the people.

  8. first of all half of you cant spell four crap. that’s probably why you don’t buy his book because you probably cant read four crap. i have all of his books and they helped me in every aspect of my life they are the real deal and if you whant them for free just go to books a million store find the information you want and wright it down that’s what i did before i actually bot the books you cant sit in the ails copying the whole book

  9. Bran says:

Apparently, there are a lot of people who are either too ignorant, stupid, or both to realize that the FDA does not make any money from the sales of pharmaceuticals. That would be pharmaceutical companies, dear. And you really believe that home remedies can replace pharmaceuticals? Really? So what, modern medicine has contributed nothing to our health? I seem to recall that the Native Americans were highly knowledgable in herbal and “home” remedies. Yet who was it that died from small pox in droves, and who was it that CURED small pox for good? You really don’t think that modern medicine is aware of herbal and home remedies? That’s how modern medicine began, dum dum; by improving upon what nature provides. Believe it or not, nature doesn’t give a crap if we have a headache or even if we die, so it’s not like nature has provided the perfect cures for every disease and ailment just for our benefit. We’ve had to take what nature does provide and improve upon it. That’s how modern medicine works, moron. But whatever. You know what, nevermind. Don’t listen to me. As soon as you come down with a terminal illness, I want you to listen to Kevin Trudeau and just take herbs instead of going to a doctor. Good luck with that. God, if only stupid people would just die off before they breed!

    • Mark says:

Do you honestly believe that the government would release to the public ANY known cancer cure? If they actually did that, our economy would collapse even much much more worse than anything that is happening right now. MILLIONS of people would lose their jobs(oncologists, pharmacists,ANYONE who works for a pharmaceutical company, nurses);hospitals and cancer centers would shut down. I have Stage 4 cancer and I believe that eating naturally is the only way to cure any illness(even mental). Domesticated pets NEVER had “human” diseases until people started feeding them human food more than usual. “Diabetics”,after changing their eating habits dramatically, are known to have stopped taking insulin(of course, with doctor supervision) within one or two days of changing their eating style.
The FDA does not want the American public to know this. And still you wonder why?

  10. Bran says:

    Lol swiftyman. Nice satire.

  11. wendy mclean says:

The gov’t is lying and making fake sites to try to discredit kevinIf you are stupid and uninformed you will believe that the gov’t cares about you. They don’t!They want you dead .so go ahead guys keep trying to pretend that natural cures don’t work but I know they work it’s all I use and now I never get sick Don’t believe the people saying that this is a hoax This is War ….War of info and They will stop at nothing to keep you sick and dumb

  12. Pills Are Happiness says:

The government and it’s agencies are fraudulent and try to discredit anyone who exposes them, such as Kevin. They want to silence anyone who knows how fraudulent the government really is and makes it known.
