KFC teams with Oprah
Yes, everyone is always suspicious when they hear about a “free lunch,” but if you visit Oprah.com/kfc today or tomorrow, you can get free chicken and sides.
If you follow the link at Oprah.com/kfc, you can download a coupon that entitles you to a free meal, including two pieces of Kentucky Fried Chicken’s new menu item, Kentucky Grilled Chicken, two sides and a biscuit. That certainly sounds like a recipe for a full stomach to me.
Giving it all away
I have learned from checking Google Trends every day that if Oprah says something, millions (possibly billions) listen. KFC hit a marketing jackpot when Oprah agreed to run their promotion.
That means KFC will be giving away a lot of free chicken. A lot. Of course, normal coupon rules apply: one per person, per visit, etc. However, there does not appear to be a limit to the number of coupons that can be printed.
Media makeover for Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC)
At first, KFC will probably lose money because of this promotion. But that’s nothing that some short-term loans can’t fix. This promotion is tied to a campaign to change KFC’s image. If the plan works, KFC will have more new customers than it knows what to do with.
When you click on the link at Oprah.com/kfc to download your free chicken coupon, KFC’s new tagline “Unthink What You Though About KFC” pops up above the “print” button. From the free coupon page, there’s also a link to check out nutrition information.
Heading toward healthy
KFC has gotten a lot of bad press in recent years for a myriad of reasons. It has been targeted by animal rights activists who believe the chickens, before they become food at KFC, are treated inhumanely.
It also hasn’t escaped the ongoing effort to expose the fast-food industry as unhealthy. With its new grilled chicken, KFC hopes to appeal to calorie counters. The company says:
“Kentucky Grilled Chicken has fewer calories, fewer fat grams and less sodium than our Original Recipe chicken, all without sacrificing the great taste of KFC.”
Hooray for free stuff
Coupons can be redeemed now through May 19, but not on May 10, Mother’s Day. I guess Oprah doesn’t approve of giving your mom free fast food for Mother’s Day. We hear ya loud and clear, Oprah.
The offer says individuals can only redeem one coupon during offer period. You’ll also need to install a coupon printer on your computer to take advantage of the offer at Oprah.com/kfc. After that, it’s free lunch time!
I missed the coupon because I didn’t have a printer but thank god there is a god because someone out there will eat free that is homeless and that need a meal more than me thanks Oprah for being an angle.

Earlier today – 19 hrs. into the promotion – I tried to get free coupon – then it said to go to another website UnThinKFC.com. At both sites the coupon was unavailable. I read that I could get up to four
coupons for my family. I am disappointed that this was unavailable. So much for a free meal.

I tried all day yesterday and today to print coupon and I was unable to. I even download Mozilla hoping the new browser would let me print. Did KFC locked the system after they got the free publicity from Oprah. This would have been a stimulus benefit in this economy for my family of four.
When I tried to print the coupons I got an error stating “you have already printed your maximum number of coupons”. Guess maybe I got to it too late….. it does say the number is limited.
I tried several times to download the coupons. I really did need it, I have just moved into a transitional home with my son because things have gotten so bad. I am 47 years old and worked since I was 15 so I was excited to receive something for free, but to avail. Thanks for trying to ease some of the pressure of day.

My wife & I went to 4 kfc & was told they did not honor oprah’s offer in the south sub’s , we burned up over four dollars in gas

TRYING TO GET FREE CHICKEN.(THEY ALL HAD SIGNS ON THE DOORS SAYING THEY WERE ONLY HONORING THE COUPONS MAY 11TH, 12TH,18TH,19TH) DUE TO THE DEMAND ON CHICKEN. This was a scam. I printed out the coupon (after downloading the “required” software). When I took it to my local KFC, I was told it was not a valid coupon and they took it and kept it. I think this was just KFC’s way of getting us to install cookies and software on our computers.

Oprah, how could the KFC chain use your name to run an apparent scam offering free meals, with a valid coupon, with no ability or want to fulfill the offer? My wife and I, acting in good faith, took your coupons to the KFC in Indio, CA twice only to be turned down because they “ran out” of chicken and on our third return was handed a rain check. Looks like they were thinking that if you were in their store you would buy something if it wasn’t free. You are an American icon. I think they soiled your name for their own personal gain.

I think it was a scam and I don’t think Oprah’s name should be associated with such a company.

We gave our couponds to our local KFC and was told that we would receive new couponds to replace them .That was well over month ago.Was this a scam?
I can afford my own KFC, but my daughter and grandson in Mtn.Home, Ark can surely use a free meal. She, heading for a new job, fell and broke her ankle and had to spend their money for doctor and drugs. The Salvation Army helped them get a place to stay and the churches of Mtn. Home helped them with food. But she is diabetic and has run out of insulin, I am sending her $50 and hope that will last til she can work. My grandson has a job already, but they hold back a weeks pay and then he will get paid in two weeks. Anyhow, even if you just read this and help me pray for Gods help for them, I am sure God will have mercy on them and see to their needs as he has so far. You have done many good deeds and you will get your rewards in heaven.
