One Earthy Day of Giveaways
After free cone day from Ben and Jerry’s yesterday and all of the free Earth Day stuff available today, you might feel like you could get used to this. However, be forewarned that the free Earth Day stuff I mention in this article is generally only available today, so be ready to start paying for things again tomorrow.
Free light bulbs
The first 1 million customers at Target locations today will get a $2 coupon, good for GE Energy Smart compact fluorescent light bulbs. These bulbs help conserve energy as well as keep trash out of landfills because they last longer than regular bulbs.
Many places are giving out free canvas tote bags, and Targets is no exception. You can carry your CFL bulbs home in a free tote and save another plastic bag from going in the trash. Home Depot also is giving away 1 million free CFL bulbs. Pacific Northwest-area lighting retailer Rejuvenation is giving out free CFLs with all purchases.
Free canvas bags
Along with Target, Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market is handing out free canvas bags, as are several other grocery store chains and independent grocers. Neighborhood Market customers must make a $10 purchase to get the free bag.
Just as you can get instant payday loans online, you can get a free canvas bag at Botanic Choice. Use coupon code EARTH. At Drugstore.com, if you make a $30 purchase you can get a free bag filled with $40 worth of samples. Walgreen’s, Metropolitan Market, H.E.B., Publix and Wegmans will all give you free reusable bags in exchange for plastic bags.
Another dose of free ice cream
Sylvania, one of the United States’ biggest light bulb makers, will have drivers scattered about in New York handing out free soft serve ice cream and product coupons for CFL bulbs.
There’s more free ingestables where that came from. Many Starbucks locations will fill your reusable mug for free today, and Jones Soda will give you a free one if you promise to always recycle. If you don’t live near a Jones Soda store, you can order your soda and make your recycling pledge online.
Free household goods
Today you can download a mail-in rebate for 100-percent recycled aluminum foil from Reynolds Wrap.If you bring three disposable plastic water bottles into any Disney Store, you can get a free reusable water bottle.
Make a day of it
Probably the best deal I’ve seen is that if you test drive a Subaru, you can get a $20 gift certificate to Whole Foods. Who doesn’t love to test drive a new car, just for fun? If I had the time I’d head to a Subaru dealership right now, drive around with the windows down for a bit, then go grocery shopping.
That’s not all, folks, there is more free stuff to be had. Check out Free Earth Day Stuff Part 2.
