Mark Levin’s book now published
Two years ago, conservative radio host Mark Levin planned to write “Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto.” He got sidetracked for a couple of years, but at last the book was published yesterday. Conservatives who are looking for a voice amid unprecedented government spending might consider that fortunate.
Hitting its mark
“Liberty and Tyranny” is geared toward a specific audience, and that audience likely has never been more ready to receive its message. One fan of the book, conservative blogger Dan Riehl of “Riehl World View,” explains the thinking behind the book in regard to the economy:
“Bad economic news presents government with, not just another chance to help, but with the opportunity to take even more power away from the individual and bestow it upon itself,” Riehl writes.
Judge it by its cover
As you can guess, “Liberty and Tyranny” is devoted to examining the core beliefs of conservatives when it comes to personal freedom and government control. Levin doesn’t think the government should be regulating things like payday loans.
According to National Review Online, “Liberty and Tyranny” reminds conservatives “in a systematic way and on a fairly deep level, what their core beliefs are … with chapters devoted to Constitution and federalism, the free market, the welfare state, foreign policy, and much else.”
Who will read it?
Thomas Lifson of “American Thinker” believes a large scope of readers with connect with the book.
“The fact that the book is lucid, unpretentious, and utterly accessible to anyone who cares to focus and think, means that it will elevate the quality of political thought and dialogue across a broad swath of the American populace,” Lifson writes.
Where are the dissenters?
So far, my search for book reviews and news stories that side against the philosophy in “Liberty and Tyranny” have come up empty. However, the book has only been out for a day, so there is still plenty of time for backlash.
If you are a conservative looking for a manifesto, “Liberty and Tyranny” is on sale on Amazon for $13.75. Retail price is $25.

Well, a conservative reboot is kind of in the cards at this point, as they haven’t exactly been very popular over the last few years. That said, we need both liberals and conservatives. Granted, we also don’t need national debt that will last through the next millennium.
