Site celebrates one year

Joni Evans
It’s known by many different names: Wow, Women on the Web and its address, wowowow.com, to name a few. Today this web site celebrates its first birthday.
I only discovered this site today, but I have been engaged and clicking on story after story since I came across it.
Financial advice by women, for women
I am very surprised that the woman who runs this web site, Joni Evans, does so for free. It’s a great site that could no doubt make money. But Evans does it just for the love of women and information.
The site is set up like a regular news web site, with information split up into categories. I was particularly interested in the “money” section, which contains current financial news and advice.
Being smart about payday loans
I particularly liked the article “Important Advice About a No Credit Check Payday Loan.” It’s good to see that other smart, capable women out there recognize that payday loans can be important and helpful to low-income families.
It is also encouraging that the author of this post encourages using payday loans responsibly and talks about when it’s the right time to get one.
News and opinions
Women on the Web also plays host to a plethora of news and opinion-based financial articles. Today there are posts on Wall Street, the downfall of the newspaper industry, Bernie Madoff and executives at AIG getting “retention bonuses.” (Spoiler alert: no one is a big fan of this idea.)
More where that came from
Along with your run-of-the-mill news, politics and entertainment sections, wowowow.com has a section called “Think Up.” Click on this tab and you’ll land on a page that is filled with, well, ideas. What a great idea! An idea section. There are ideas on things such as how businesses can better survive the recession and volunteer work.

wowowow is a really good site. They have some really good interviews.
