Bob Dylan will play at Rothbury.

The 2009 Rothbury music festival is on the books, and tickets for the Fourth of July weekend event in Michigan will go on sale Friday.

The festival features some big names, including Bob Dylan, The Dead and Nas. Yes, it’s an eclectic lineup, and tickets are pricey. But the festival lasts four days, July 2-5, so it averages out to $62.50 per day.

Get payday loans instead of layaway tickets

This year, the event organizers are offering “layaway tickets.” Because tickets start at about $250 for the four-day festival, you can pay them off in installments. However, a word to the wise: there is a $26 layaway fee. Fees on payday loans are often less than that, so if you can find a payday loan with a fee less than $26, you could save yourself some money.

More about the music

A few of the other well-known acts on the lineup include The Black Crowes, Willie Nelson, The String Cheese Incident, Flogging Molly and The Hold Steady.

Some bands you may not have heard of who will play at Rothbury: The Ragbirds, Lotus, Mstrkrft, The Disco Biscuits and Cold War Kids.

Ticket packages

The $250 tickets include on-site parking and camping for three nights. Beware, though, if you want to park and camp in your RV it’s an extra $125. If you want to spring for an extra-special experience, you can get a “good life” ticket.

These packages range from $490 to $1,675 per person. They include all types of different camping perks, and some offer shelter such as a teepee or a “Safari tent,” which contains a queen-sized bed.

Ready for action

Starting Friday you can purchase tickets through the festival web site or on ticketmaster.com. Ticket fees start at $23 per ticket, so be ready for that. Also, $2 from each ticket sale goes toward the Grant Township Land Improvement Fund.

  1. Peter Stone says:

The line up looks really good. I’d pay good money just to see Dylan or Willie Nelson just themselves, nevermind if they’re on a package ticket.
