Should the Octomom consider short term loans?

Can she bring home her babies?

The Nadya Suleman Family WebsiteWith no money and no job, should Octomom, a.k.a. Nadya Suleman, consider applying for short term loans so she can bring home her newborns? She recently said in an interview with Dr. Phil McGraw that she thinks that Kaiser Permanente Bellflower Medical Center might not release her kids if she is financially incapable of raising them. At present, she is only receiving food stamps and disability payments for her special kids.

So, would it be advisable then for her to take out a loan just to be able to bring her babies home? Is there a bank or financial organization that would be willing to give her the loan, given her present financial state? But even if there is, would it be right for her to take out a loan even if she’s already in debt and unemployed?

Housing issue

Another important issue that has been raised recently is her search for a house big enough for her growing family. She is currently living with her mother in a small 3-bedroom house in California that is on the brink of being taken away from them because of non-payment of the mortgage payment.

Her parents filed for bankruptcy last year and have already lost a house in 2007. They themselves cannot help their daughter financially. With this current situation, is it advisable then for her to take out short term loans in order to get a new house for all of them? Will she be able to find some source of income for her to pay off the loan in time?

Where are the angels?

We have seen other mothers, featured in various talk shows, who have had multiple births and were showered with gifts from big consumer companies, ranging from diapers to milk to toys and we’ve even seen houses built for them. Where are those angels now? Moral debates and lack of remorse from the octomom, according to some, have kept these consumer companies from providing any assistance, whether in cash or in kind. It seems that due to the negative publicity that the octomom is receiving, they have stayed away and do not want their good names to be associated with her and her current situation.

However, there are still some who have extended their help to the family. Some of them might just be capitalizing on the current publicity and have their own agendas but some are genuinely concerned with the children’s welfare more than anything else. It is known that the mother has her own agenda and has rejected some of these offers due to personal reasons.

What now?

With no definite source of income in the near future and no immediate financial help coming, should Ms. Suleman consider applying for a loan just to get things started? Will short term loans be able to jump start her life with the octuplets? She should take this into consideration and really think about it. It might be difficult to find someone who can give her the loan but if she is lucky enough to get it then she would be able to start living her life with her 14 children.

  1. Peter Stone says:

She shouldn’t get short term loans, she should get her head examined, and a really good job while she’s at it. What could have possessed her to think that she needed another child on top of the 6 she already has? The TV footage that comes out of her home indicates that she can barely control the 6, nevermind what it’s going to be like for her when the rest of them grow up. I’m afraid for her children, to be honest.
