Payday Loan Store Robbed in Wichita, an Attempt in Spokane

Payday Loan store robberies continue

It seems robbers out there are getting wise to the fact that other robbers are hitting up payday loan stores and getting away with it. After a string of robberies last month, another store has been held up at gunpoint.

Wielding a gun in Wichita

Police in Wichita, Kan., are currently searching for a man who robbed an EZ Pay store in the eastern part of the city. The man was armed with a gun. He is described as a black man in his 20s, 5′ 10″, 120 to 130 pounds. He was wearing a puffy coat with a gold logo and blue sweat pants.

Stealing in Spokane

The situation in Spokane, Wash., is getting a little ridiculous. Police believe that the same man committed four payday loan store robberies last month. A man robbed a Check and Go Jan. 14 and a Check into Cash store Jan. 20. On Jan. 29, the same Check into Cash location was robbed again, within hours of a robbery at a different Check into Cash location.

Almost stealing in Spokane

Last night, police believe a man attempted to rob the same Check into Cash location that had already been struck twice. Check into Cash has started keeping its doors locked and requiring customers to show ID before they come in. Last night a man wearing a black ski mask attempted to enter the store and then ran away after realizing the door was locked.

Where is this guy?

In each case, the robber fits the same description: A man in his 20s, white, 5′5″ to 5′7″ and wearing a black ski mask, black coat and blue jeans. To make matters worse, a man fitting the same description robbed a Spokane pharmacy last night and got away with seven bottles of the powerful painkiller OxyContin. Police have no suspects in custody.

It’s at least comforting that the Check into Cash store in Spokane was able to thwart another possible robbery by enhancing security. Payday loan stores must make sure they are keeping their employees safe.

Payday advance stores are an easier target than banks and credit union. I mean their security systems definitely need an upgrade. With the way the economy is going, and more and more people looking for an easy way out, I think these payday loan stores should definitely invest in a more sophisticated security system. I mean, that’s already a bunch of payday advance store robberies that has been reported. If I was a payday loan store owner, I would’ve thought about this a long time ago.

  2. Perky On Payday says:

Good lord, this is getting ridiculous. This guy robs the same store twice in under two weeks? Check into Cash and Check n Go are both national chains – they can afford to invest in some security measures, and apparently they had something in place because he couldn’t rob the last one, which is good – the public and the store employees need to be kept safe, and this guy needs to get caught.
