Macy’s, Chili’s and Morgan Stanley make cuts

The Macy's flagship department storeAs promised, your fast payday loan store delivers news on today’s layoffs.

Macy’s heads the pack as far as number of jobs to be cut today. The department store chain announced today that it will ax 7,000 positions. The jobs lost will be a mixture of corporate and staff positions.

The store is still planning to shut down 11 stores, as it announced in December, but not more. Not yet. Analyst Stevan Buxbaum is not surprised by Macy’s announcement.

“Reality is department stores are dinosaurs. You have to ask yourself how long can this model work as a viable business?” Buxbaum said.

If you’re a fan of Chili’s Restaurant you might want to grab a fast payday loan and head to the nearest one right away. Soon, it might not be there. The company announced today that it will shut down 35 restaurants.

Chili’s has already laid off 160 workers, and that total is bound to reach phenomenal levels before the restaurant closings finish up in March. According to my calculations, if each restaurant employs 50 people, almost 2,000 people are out of a job. Out on The Street

More Wall Street workers will become fallout of the financial system meltdown as Morgan Stanley cuts between 1,500 and 1,800 jobs. The company hasn’t confirmed the number, but layoffs are expected later this month.

This announcement comes amid the merger between Morgan Stanley and Citigroup’s Smith Barney. The Wall Street Journal says this merger will lead to more layoffs outside the company.

Having worked for Macys for TWENTY SIX years it is NOT a shock to me that these layoffs are happening. Upper management is out of touch, Middle management ( MTMs ) have NO not a clue on PEOPLE management..The unreal expectations of Macys West Upper Crust shows how out of touch the Elite Few in the Golden Palace are. That being said, Macys was once a great place to work… A place that you were proud to say you were employeed by.. Iam sad to say that is no longer the case….

No big news here… 26 years with Macys,For my last five years, after absorbing Emporium deptmartment stores, I was placed under a MTM, Linda Martinez, that was so worried about her Job she was afraid to take a vacation. Then there was our Store Manager… Jeff Schecter, A so called man who would Carrow at the thought of our regional manager showing up at a moments notice that he would on a DAILY basis strike fear into the department Managers….

Sorry to see more layoffs. I will miss Chili’s baby back ribs, if they’re shutting down the location in my city.

Like I’ve said before, this is like a never ending story. Our nation is like a group of people migrating through a tunnel. We’re trapped in a dark tunnel, unable to locate the smallest light to lead us out of the tunnel. There are the lost, unconfident people who are just trying to flow with rest, praying for the light to appear. Then we’ve got the voracious chaps (such as the Wall Street bastards) who sit high on their horses trampling whoever that gets in their way and mooching off of what others have in store for themselves. Then there are the regulators (government officials) who sit there in the dark bickering and pointing finger at one another. Instead of communicating and working together to effectively guide the people out of the tunnel, they’re practically panicking and running in circles… no wonder why we’re lost.
