The Army knew it wasn’t safe
Your payday loan source hopes that this problem will be taken care of immediately. America’s sons and daughters give up their lives for their country. They deserve better. It’s about time, Mr. Kennedy, that we ask “what our country can do” for them. Roll over in your grave if it pleases you.
Sara Carter reports in the Washington Times that the United States Army will withdraw over 16,000 ceramic body armor plates from field use. This comes on the heels of a report by the Pentagon’s inspector general that the plates were not sufficiently tested before being let loose onto the battleground. In March, the inspector general found that the Army did not follow federal requirements in procuring body armor components and identified deficiencies in 16 of 28 Army contracts.
How does something like this happen? And are we to believe that the Army would simply “be proactive” while not confirming there’s a problem? “The plates are being recalled so that soldiers will not worry that they are wearing unsafe armor,” an unnamed Pentagon official said. So it’s about peace of mind? No. No fax payday loans are peace of mind during a financial emergency. In this kind of life or death emergency, troops deserve adequate protection.
Melt them down for ceramic figurines!
U.S. Representative Louise Slaughter first noted the problem back in April of 2008. “During a time of war, it’s shameful that the Army would not scrupulously ensure that every piece of equipment is properly tested, especially a fundamentally life and death product such as body armor… I demand that those who negligently and callously gambled with the lives of our brave men and women in uniform be fired immediately.”
Another Department of Defense official who shared information with the Times under the condition of anonymity said that the “Army is going to push back,” claiming that the inspector general’s negative report is without merit. If the Army has any confidence in their defense, why would only unnamed sources step forward to speak for them?
Others support the inspector general’s findings
Maj. Clifford Yarbrough, who served in Afghanistan, told The Times that his unit was issued titanium plate body armor. These plates are able to withstand multiple direct hits and have saved many lives. In his professional opinion, the ceramic plates do not offer sufficient protection.
Roger Charles, a retired Marine and author for the Internet news magazine Soldiers for the Truth, has investigated the body armor issue for nearly four years. In his studied opinion, the Army has placed “men on the front lines at risk.”
There is no question in my mind … that the Army and Marine Corps have issued inferior body armor to our troops. It’s their lives that are at stake, and their lives are worth getting them the best.
The United States Army is failing the men and women who have dedicated themselves to its service. When money and politics replace fundamental love and respect for human life, those responsible for this crime against humanity should be strapped into the defective gear and sent to the front lines themselves. Your payday loan source would see that as adequate justice.

If an office is short a few pens, that’s one thing. This is one thing where they cannot afford to cut costs by getting cheaper or fewer supplies – because people will die. I wonder how many have already have perished because of faulty equipment purchased for a discount. I know the bean counters probably don’t add the value of a soldier’s life into their reports, but those of us who care about our friends and family that are deployed certainly do. This kind of thing is unacceptable.
