Fortune Magazine’s Top 100
Though the economy is in a dismal state, according to Fortune Magazine there are still plenty of companies who keep their employees happy and keep them from needing to get an online payday loan. Fortune picked 100 companies and dubbed them the “Best Companies to Work For.”
Check out the list if you want to see all 100, but I will give details on the top three here.
Number One: NetApp
Don’t worry, I had never heard of this company before, either. NetApp is an online data management site. Apparently it has been on Fortune’s list for six years, and now it has crawled its way to the top. According to Fortune, the “egalitarian culture” at NetApp plus great benefits has employees raving about loving where they work.
The benefits include things like five paid days for volunteer work, adoption aid and autism coverage. Even in this dwindling economy, the company has grown. It hasn’t laid anyone off, and it has $2 billion in the bank. Looks like no one who works there will need an online payday loan any time soon.
Number Two: Edward Jones
Amid the stock market collapse, brokerage firm Edward Jones managed to avoid layoffs as well as getting entangled in high-risk mortgages. When the financial crisis hit, Edward Jones reduced partner distributions and bonuses but nonetheless, everyone is still happy.
Unlike the countless companies who are laying off employees and shutting down facilities, Edward Jones hired nearly 700 people last year and is building an addition to its headquarters. To fill the addition, the company plans to hire 500 employees. You might want to get your application in now!
Number Three: Boston Consulting Group
Global business consultants, the Boston Consulting group, worked its way up to the number three spot this year. The medical coverage from this company is tops.
The company’s headquarters is in Boston, of course, and it pulls in about $2.3 billion a year in revenue.
No more Google?
Those of you who saw Google in the number one spot on the list last year may be concerned about not seeing it in the top three. Never you fear, Google is resting safely at number four, still a very respectable spot. Though it had to cut some frills, the company hasn’t made any layoffs and the workers’ salaries are still big enough that they should be able to save money for financial emergencies instead of needing an online payday loan.

Good for those firms – commendations are due to companies that can manage growth during these times. Let us hope that that kind of prosperity can return to other companies and our economy can return to normal soon.
