The Obama family has been on a dog search since the November 4th Presidential Election. “This has been tougher than finding a Commerce Secretary,” Barack Obama told the ABC News. During his victory speech, Obama acknowledged his family’s support and contributions to the campaign and brought up the promise he made earlier to his daughters; getting a new puppy, win or lose, payday loans or no payday loans. This may just be the first time in history that an animal has been referenced in a presidential victory speech.

History of Labradoodles

A Labradoodle is a cross between a Labrador and a standard Poodle. They are considered to be very intelligent and are great guide dogs. Labradoodles are known to be friendly, loyal, and energetic. Much like payday loans, this dog breed has become very popular worldwide.

The credit goes to Wally Conrad who first discovered the crossbreed between 1988 and 1989. Following the failure of the sample, Conrad suggested crossing a Labrador Retriever and a Standard Poodle. His focus was to combine the low-shedding coat of the Poodle with the mildness and intelligence of the Labrador, and form a Guide Dog suitable for people with serious allergy problems.

The Manager of the Australian Guide Dog Association granted approval and soon after his first litter produced three puppies. One of Labradoodle puppies from the initial mix was considered hypoallergenic. Samples were then sent back to the Lab for testing. This time, the samples from a puppy named Sultan were successful! Wally Conrad gave the crossing breed the name still in use today – Labradoodle.

As Superior as their Owners

Labradoodles are great for companion purposes and provide the best of both worlds as some may say.

Anyone could be a proud owner of a Labradoodle. Sir Donald Campbell was one of the first Labradoodle owners. Jennifer Anniston has one and Golfer Tiger Woods owns two Labradoodles named Yogi and Riley. Even Vice President-elect Joe Biden owns a Labradoodle he named Brother. Apparently, the president-elect will also be bringing a German shepherd puppy with him to the White House. The puppy will be trained and housebroken for the meantime and delivered after the Jan. 20 inauguration. Joe Biden’s grandchildren have named the family’s new dog Champ.
