Matt Dillon Speeding, Maybe a Payday Loan will help?

By Sarah Duncan-Gilbert, your payday loan news source

Hopefully Matt Dillon has enough money for attorney fees and a hefty speeding ticket, otherwise he might need a payday loan until his next movie comes around. Matt Dillon was caught on December 30, 2008 at 10 p.m. speeding in Newbury, Vermont. He was going 106 mph in a 65 mph posted zone. In Vermont going more than 30 mph over the speed limit is considered a criminal charge.

He was pulled over on interstate 91, driving a rented 2009 Chevrolet Impala. He is scheduled to appear in Vermont District Court on January 21. If he gets convicted of a criminal charge he could spend up to three months in jail and be fined up to 300 dollars.

What was he thinking?

What celebrity really thinks that when pulled over wherever they are, it will not be on the front page of some news page? Matt Dillon thankfully was not drunk or on any type of drugs when he was pulled over. He just had a lead foot that he couldn’t contain.

He is one of the few that isn’t caught on some kind of mind altering substance when speeding. He should consider himself lucky. Some  celebrities who were not so lucky and got caught driving under the influence: Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Ray Liotta, Vivica A. Fox, Tony LaRussa and Warren Moon. Most of them didn’t face much jail time and really didn’t feel any financial backlash. However, they did get bad press for a while. But remember, any press is good press because at least people are aware of who you are.

Why such low consequences?

What many people don’t realize is that the first DUI is more like a warning, and the person gets more financial penalties than anything else. When someone receives a second DUI, things get more serious. Drivers can get  their licenses taken away and get higher fees. Another reason for somewhat lax penalties the jails are so packed that they cannot hold someone for very long on a DUI. Because celebrities need special facilities, it becomes a burden to taxpayers also.

What I don’t understand is why celebrities wouldn’t just call a car to come get them. I mean, that has to be cheaper than paying all those fees, and much safer to everyone else on the roads. And if they can’t afford to pay for a car, get a payday loan before they go out so that they don’t endanger anyone else on the road. That is what I am most concerned about.

Why Speed?

Matt Dillon is best known for his roles in movies like Crash, There’s Something about Mary and Wild Things, but now he can add speeding recklessly to the list of things people think of when his name is mentioned. I suppose this is not as bad as other offenses that other celebrities have committed. If you know someone who has some kind of traffic violation that they need help with, let them know a payday loan is an option so they can get help in a time of need.

I love how celebrities don’t have any common sense. If their not getting busted for DUI’s they are getting busted for abusing the paparazzi. You would think with all of the money they make they go and talk to someone about trying to be more educated about there day to day decisions.

GLAD THEY DIDN’T LET HIM OFF BECAUSE OF BEING A CELEBRITY AND ESPECIALLY HAPPY HE DIDN’T HURT SOMEONE IN AN ACCIDENT

  3. Gerald says:

Anyone speeding that fast should do the time in the clincker, a $300.00 fine is nothing for a person like that. What if he had killed someone?
    Make him do the time.

Wow. 41 MPH over the posted limit – that is insane. Over 100 mph, even on a major highway, is darned irresponsible. At that kind of speed, if you make any kind of slip up, someone is most likely going to die. I think there ought to be some kind of packet that people should get when they become celebrities, about how the laws of physics and the laws of the United States still apply, regardless of how much money they make. Let’s just be thankful that he only got pulled over, instead of getting busted for it in the aftermath of a Crash.

Who cares-.. 100mph is SOOO FAST?.. Glad he’s a celeb and didnt get away with it? Give me a break.. Charmed by the government lately? What people dont realize is that cars these days are built to go at high speeds and can handle that speed without problems.. especially on a big insterstate highway. Speed limits are created by government not just for safety but rather because FINES/court system generate a lot of revenue for the state. In otherwords an additional TAX- The autobahn in germany has pleny of rules yet no speed limit but miraculously doesnt have as many accidents etc .. wonder why? Speed doesnt kill if you handle it responsibly.. drunk drivers kill.. reckless idiots behind the wheel kill…Old granny Sunday drivers kill..even Soccer moms with “BABY ON BOARD” signs kill.
