Pop Music Defined Is “Michael Jackson”

Michael Jackson is a legend in his own right, who has enjoyed a higher payday by the music industry than those before or after him and whom pop culture loans credit to as the single most defining figure of their music genre ever.

The King Is Ill

Michael Jackson, the long-heralded, undisputed king of pop music has been struggling with illness, according to the latest reports, and is suffering from physical ailments outside of his control.

It’s uncertain just how bad Micheal’s condition is at the moment, but  “Britain’s Daily Express” said Jackson, 50, may be fighting to stay alive.

Reports say that Michael Jackson is suffering from an extremely rare genetic lung condition called Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, which may likely prove fatal.

The condition has been present for several years but hasn’t impaired him until lately. Michael reportedly needs a lung transplant, but currently his weakened physical state may not allow him to go through with it. He currently having difficulty speaking.

Michael has reportedly lost 95% of his vision in one eye and is suffering from gastrointestinal bleeding. The bleeding is proving to be the most severe  physical ailment and the most life threatening.

Among The Greatest

Michael Jackson has enjoyed the kind of fame that comes to very few musicians and will be remembered with those such as Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra.

Twenty-six years ago, Jackson released “Thriller,” the best selling record of all time, but his fame in the United States quickly diminished after accusations of child abuse arose. He was eventually acquitted three years ago.

On The Fly With The Jackson 5

Here is a little history of Michael Jackson’s rise and fall from fame.

Born in 1958, Michael Jackson’s rise to fame didn’t allow him much of a normal childhood. He and his brothers began performing in 1962 as the “Jackson 5″ and signed their first contract in 1968 with Motown records.

The Jackson 5’s first hit single “Want You Back” debuted in 1969 and sold more than 2 million copies. This was followed by their first album called “Diana Ross Presents The Jackson 5″ then another called “ABC” in 1970. Two more albums called “Third Album” and “Jackson 5 Christmas” were also released in 1970.

Going Solo

Apart from his fame with the Jackson 5, Micheal began his solo career in 1972 with his first debut album called “Got To Be There” and the same year had his first No. 1 hit,  “Ben”. His reason for going solo was to define himself in the music industry, not because he needed extra cash.

By 1976, Michael Jackson had released four albums of his own as well as several others as part of the Jackson 5. In 1976 the Jackson 5 changed their name to The Jacksons and got their own TV Show.

Michael had his first movie role in an all-black remake of “The Wizard of Oz” called “The Wiz” in 1978. This role, apart from his music videos, proves to be one of his few film experiences.

Michael’s Big Payday

Michael’s fame reached worldwide acclaim in 1979 with his album called “Off the Wall,” which sold more than 19 million copies across the globe. He was nominated and received his first Grammy in 1980 for best vocals for  “Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough”.

The pinnacle of his career came in 1982 with his release of “Thriller,” which sold more than 50 million copies, the most in history, and he was branded with the title “The King of Pop”.

“MoonWalk” Defining Pop With Moves of His Own

It wasn’t just singing that made Michael famous, it was also his dancing. World renowned for his dancing style, his signature move called the “Moonwalk” is performed for the first time in 1983.

Michael Gets His Star

In 1984 Michael got his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and from that point forward began to appear in the news not only for his musical talent but also for many of his personal and private actions.

Michael Bleaches His Skin — or Does He?

Michael’s skin condition – called Vitiligo, which lightens patches of his skin – forced him to wear makeup to maintain a consistent one-tone appearance. Rumors of Micheal bleaching his skin so he could be white emerged as a result.

Plastic Surgery Changes Michael Forever

Jackson also went through several cosmetic surgeries for his nose, cheekbones, cleft chin and tattooed eyeliner. Rumors arose that he is trying to look like his sister Janet Jackson.

Bad Marriages And Accusations Result In Michael’s Fall From Grace

His private life of two marriages and two divorces and the birth of his two children made headlines as well.

The single most devastating event of Michael’s career was in 1993, when he was accused of molesting a 13-year-old boy named Jordy Chandler. He made a public appearance denying the charges but later settled on $20 million payday loans to the plaintiff in exchange for the charges against him to be dropped.

The charges against Micheal were dropped, but much of his U.S. fan base thought he was guilty because of his choice to settle the charges.

Charged Again

He’s charged again in 2003 for molestation, but once again denies it. The trial began in January of 2005 and resulted in an acquittal a few months later, largely in part to the testimony of Macaulay Culkin, a good friend of Michael’s and the godfather of his children. Macaulay’s testimony to Micheal’s innocence as well as the failure to find DNA evidence contributed to the verdict.

Michael Jackson May Need Payday Loans To Stay Afloat

Michael, who at one point had an estimated net worth of $750 million,  has for the most part gone broke, exceeding his extraordinary budget of more than $1 million a month. In 2003 it reportedly cost him $375,000 each month just to maintain his personal staff of 120 people.

It just goes to show that it doesn’t matter how much money you make. If you can’t budget your money responsibly, going broke is inevitable. If the king of pop fails to become the king of his finances he may likely find himself borrowing a payday loan just to make ends meet.

Payday loans
are a nice service to have if you find yourself in need of some emergency funds, but by creating and properly managing a financial budget, you are able to stand in the greatest opposition to personal debt and the need to utilize emergency funds.

I learned things I have not seen elsewhere.interesting site.

Just goes to show you, no matter how much money you have. Even the rich someday may need a payday loan . They are not just available for the “poor folk” it’s for all people in financial need. Like me

  3. vkingston says:

It’s sad that Michael has to go through all of that. Some people may say that this is Karma making its visit. Despite everything, Michael will still be known as the “King of Pop.” No matter what, his legacy will live on. However, I do believe he is living above his means. Considering all of his problems, I would think he would be more practical and responsible with his finances – even stars can fall.

  4. duncansadviceonmoney says:

Michael Jackson had his fame and I think now he just needs to hide he has destroyed his reputation in the United States and has spent almost all his money. His music was great and he really was an idol for many singers but for now he just needs to concentrate on himself.

  5. dora says:

idiot, your article is full of wrong facts.
The J5’s song is ‘I want you back’
    not ‘want you back’
The skin condition’s name is ‘Vitiligo’ not ‘Vitigo’
$#!@ you all who don’t even bother to get the simple facts right.
He had plastic surgery because of his low self esteem not because he wants to look like anyone.

MJ wrote his own songs, co-choreographed his own moves. Frank sinatra and elvis presley didn’t write their own songs and couldn’t dance at all.

Before him, there was artist who was best in either singing or dancing, but none of them is best in both. But when MJ came, we saw an artist excelling in both. Besides moonwalk which he’s more reputable for, he could do 7 spins at once and finish it with a toe stand, which is brilliant. He is a god on stage. Watch all his live performances from the 90s and late 80s, you would agree with me.

Thriller propelled him to international stardom but his later albums are just as good.
Dangerous album and Bad album sold more than 35millions worldwide, History album sold more than 20million copies. Blood on the dance floor is the highest selling remix album. Thriller 25 is US top 20 selling album for 2008 where madonna who is on a world tour to promote her album is nowhere to be found.

He is a legend. He is a black man who own 50% of Sony/ATV which include the beatles catalogue and Elvis presley’s songs and you know why he’s persecuted?

He settled the civil case but that doesnt prevent the family to sue him in criminal case. After getting the money, the family simply didn’t want to bother to sue him because they got what they wanted. Rethink about it, if your son is molested, why do you stop suing him after you got the money?

    stupid payday loans.

And still, he makes money while he sleeps.

      thanks alot x

  8. Jerry says:

MJ allowed himself to get “caught up” in his stardom. I have always enjoyed his talent and I will continue to do so. He has influenced so many artist no doubt. I hope he can make a comeback. I believe MJ had to struggle with his “demons” all his life. Hopefully, he will find peace and reinvent himself and rise again…LET’S DO IT MJ!

  9. Richard says:

Michael Jacson and, i were born in the same year .i grew up with the J5 and,i will aways enjoy him. the law suits in my view are all about $$$$$$$. if you get my drift?

  10. Freddie says:

For the people that are saying MJ needs to hide and that MJ ruined his chances in the US first off are idiots. MJ will always be loved in the US no matter how he looks and no matter what allegations are spread in his name. MJ is a great singer, songwriter and producer. MJ can enjoy whatever he wants in his life, and he is free to do what he wants. And this happens to every successful black man. They get a lot of money, and then somehow lose it. But Michael Jackson will never be MC Hammer broke because he has very rich and powerful friends who will give him whatever he wants. That Prince in Dubai is not who I am talking about. Plus MJ still owns a lot music catalogs and owns some of the rights to music by The Beatles, Eminem, NSYNC, and even Britney Spears, I think what this guy is saying is MJ’S Definition of Broke is like only having 20 Million left. But hes not like nickel and dime broke. MJ will live a luxury life for the rest of his years, and I hope the THIS IS IT TOUR comes to the US. Because I want to go. I love MJ’s music. Even though his personal life is messed up, he is still a great music artist. Think about it. You have been performing music since you were 5 years old your whole life, of course your going to be psychologically messed up. Thats life, but if my dad did that to me, even though it was messed up I would be rediculously rich, and would be thankful more than anything.

Were going to miss you Michael. I’m glad to have had the privilege to see you in the BAD concert in Los Angeles, Ca. It was GREAT! sitting behind me was George Michael and down from me was Phil Collins and to my left was Liz Taylor. I just happened to bless with awesome seats! I will never forget it. This to me was a moment in time to be a part of history.

In suggestion to his curtain call concert it would be amazing to see or have Janet Jackson finalize his last curtain call concert in memory of her brother cause shes the only one that can dance and sing like him and do his songs. in addition to this have the money go to some charity.

Please send responses to my email.
