Ohio Farm Bureau Outraged about Payday Loans! Why so Serious?
Get over yourselves, Ohio farmers! We all use payday loans.
In this Dayton Daily News article, we see that a TV commercial sponsored by Ohioans for Financial Freedom, the payday lenders‘ group seeking to repeal House bill 545. The Ohio Farm Bureau is outraged at what they feel is a negative portrayal of Ohio farmers. I think it’s ridiculous - perhaps the Farm Bureau has been swept away by, oh, I don’t know… who competes with the payday loan industry… oooh, oooh, I know! Banks!
According to the Ohio Farm Bureau’s Web site, “Financial support for the Foundation comes from individual donors, agricultural organizations and corporations/foundations.” So this is not an unbiased, non-profit organization.

The Ohio farmers need to settle down. The commercial’s intent was not to portray farmers as poor money managers. Instead, the commercial was trying to say that people from all walks of life can benefit from a payday loan.
ALL people, including but not limited to farmers, face instances where they’re in a bind financially and could use a little cash before they get their next pay check, whenever that may be. The point the commercial was trying to make is that a payday loan is a great choice when you need money right away. A payday loan is so convenient, and you can solve your short term money problems quickly!
NicoleLoanAdvice is right, farmers are over reacting to the commercial. They’re looking too far into it and they need to understand that payday loans are useful to everyone and that they don’t target a specific group of people!
I don’t think the commercial was using the US farmers as targets in a negative way. It was showing that all types of people can benefit from an online no fax payday loan. Farmers are typically not close to town and, with a computer, can obtain a loan within hours from the comfort of their home and no traveling into town.
